eph's Church, Kingsbridge by , the
Reverend' Father Ed.Pentinger.
The bride's attendants were het
sisters Annie, and Lizette 'VanDiep-
enbeelc and the groom's sister Mrs.
Linda Rathwell. The little flower
girl was Jackie Rathwell, The
grootnsmin was Steven" Mann,
brother of the groom. Ushers were
Benny. VanDiepenbeek, brother, of
the bride, and Ken Eadie, friend of
the groom. Guests were present
from Delhi, Paris, London, Sarnia,
Moncton, Kitchener, Holyrood 'and
surrounding areas. Special guest
at the wedding celebration was
the groom's grandfather, Mr.
Mann of Delhi. Dinner was served
to approximately 116 guests at the

Safford Valley Hall. The hall was
packed. for an 'open reception to
music for dancing supplied by
Elmslie 'of Wingham.
'BRIDAL SHOWER
Several from this area attended
the bridal shower for Miss Brenda
Moran, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Alvin, Moran, held at the North
Ashfield Presbyterian Church on
Friday evening, August 27. The
musical program' was emceed by
Mrs, Brenda Cook. There was
vocal solos by, Flora. Simpson with
guitar accampaniment, Kathy
Simpson read n Poem. Janet
MacDonald played piano selections
and a very interesting contest was
conducted by Miss Lorraine Mac-.
Donald. Brenda and her attend-
ants were, ushered to the pretty
decorated chairs and Mrs. Marjorie
FatTish read the address to the
bride. Brenda received many
lovely and useful gifts and she=
made' a suitable reply.. Her'
marriage, to Steyen Wylds will take
place on Saturday, September 25.
Work on the newly constructed
"Sullivan Restaurant" is almost
completed. This new restaurant
will be opening soon and will be
operated by Peter J. and Stephanie
Vogt.
Nelson Taillon of Vancouver is
spending holidays at the home of
his 'aunt Mrs. Fred Vassella, Mr.
Vassella and with the Vassella and
Sinnett families. •
Mrs. Maurice (Rose) Howler,
Mr, and Mts. Joe' Bowler and
family, Miss Betty Jane Bowler and
friend of Toronto; Mr. and Mrs. Art

returned recently following a six
week vacation in Europe. They
flew from the Toronto International
Airport to Paris, France. They
spent three • weeks in France
touring the country, one week
touring Italy and the remainder of

Switzerland, - Germany, Austria,
Belgium and Holland.

spending two weeks vacation on

Michigan to Waukegan Illinois; St.
Joseph, Miehigan and Detroit,
Michigan. They travelled .'to and
from Alpena by car.
Miss Sheila Sinnett; daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Sinnett, has
returned to her home here after
spending one week's vacation with
her brother, Edward Sinnett in
Montreal and another week with
her aunt; Miss Diane Vassella in
Toronto.

Gulf Canada, Montreal are spend-.
ing holidays at their' homes here.

visited on Sunday, August 22nd in
St. Clements, with her parents, Mr.

homes here on Saturday, August 28
following a 19 day vacation to .the

an &week Auto Mechanic course at
the Centennial College, Toronto.
Classes began on Monday, August
30.
Mr. and Mrs.. Dan Dalton and
daughter, Patricia, •Kathleen, who
have been , visiting with his father
Raymond Dalton and members of
the Dalton families and with her ,
parents in Fergus for the past
several weeks, returned to. their
home in Nanaimo, British Colum-
bia on Monday, August 30.
Mr. and Mrs. Hank DeBruyn, of
Sudbury spent the 'weekend wiSh
her sister Mrs. Reis Miltenburg,
Mr. Miltenburg and members of
the Miltenburg family.,
Wilma. Janvier, 'who has been
visiting her sister and brother-in-
law, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Hackett for
the past 6 weeks, returned to 'her
home in Cold Lake, Alberta on
Tuesday, August 31.
Reverend Father Thomas Moy-
lan, S.J. of St. Catharines is
spending a few days this week with
his sister, Mrs. Mary Prayne.
John and Lynn O'Grady of
Listowel 'are spending a few days
vacation. at the home of their aunt,
Mrs. Eugene Frayne, Mr. Frayne
and family. •
Several from this area went by
Sherwood Bus 'to the Canadian
National Exhibition' .in Toronto on
Sunday, 'August 29 returning at
approximately 2.30 on Monday
morning.
Rain Is Problem
For Kinsmen
Ball Tournament
Lucknow Kinsmen 3rd Annual
Intermediate Ball Tournament was
completed on Sunday,' August 22.
Wet weather had postponed the
final and championship games
from' the previous week.
Mount Forest Intermediates won'
the championship trophy and $150.
VVingham Intermediates were
the consolation winners and receiv-
ed the 'trophy' as well as $75.
Twelve teams were entered in
the successful tournament. Includ-
ed were Lucknovv, Goderich, Nile,
Whitechurch, Wingharn, Ripley,
Atwood, Conestoga College,
Mount, Forest, Strathroy, Walton
and Waterloo Sports.
The action got underway on
Friday, August 13 and was
scheduled for all ' day Saturday,
however rain cancelled nearly all
the afternoon and evening lames.
On Sunciay, games, that were
carried over from Saturday were
played .after a great deal of prepar-
ation on the' rain soaked diamond.
On Saturday night, August 14, a
successful dance was held in the
arena.
The six teams qualifying for the
consolation and championship fin-
als were: in the consolation',
Goderich, Wingham 'and Walton.
Wingham defeated Goderich 7-1,
and then went'on to defeat Walton
6-1 in the consolation final.
In the Championship round
LucknoW defeated Ripley in one of
the most exciting games of the
tournament, 5-4 after two extra
innings of , play. Lucknow then
went on to' meet Mount Forest 'who
outscored the- local boys 9-2.
Mount Forest had won, the
tournament the first year it was
held and last year Lucknow was the
winner,
Proceeds from the project are for
community service work.
