Mrs. Alice MacKenzie passed
away • Thursday, August 19 at
Brucelea Haven, Walkerton in her
91st year. • ,
The former . Alice Hedley, she,
was the Widow of the late William
JohnoMacKeniie, who predeceased
her in January 1943.
Mr. aid Mrs. MacKenziefarnied
in Kinloss Township for many
years. They sold their farm- and'
lived in Kincardine for three years
and, then moved to Lucknow where
since.
Mrs. MacKenzie 'has lived ever
She is survived by one brother
Wesley Hedley of Brucelea Haven
and several nieces and nephews.
She was a member of Lucknow
Presbyterian Church.
Funeral service was held at the
MacKenzie Memorial Chapel on
Sunday, August 22tid with Rev.
Glenn Noble officiating.
Pallbearers were John Hedley,
Charlie Hedley, Elmer Scott, Ezra
Stanley, William Ross and William
Walsh.
Flower bearers were Bill McDon-
ald, Jack , McDonald 'and •Ken
Barger.
Interment was in. Greenhill
Cemetery, Lucknow.

Smorgasbord
A delightful smorgasbord supper
took place, at the home of Mrs.
Raynard Ackert on Thursday
evening, August 12th at 6.30 when
the Holyrood Women's Institute
met. Following a bounteous meal,
the president, Mrs. William Mac-
Pherson welcomed, the members
and visitors and the meeting
opened with the Ode and the Mary
Stewart collect. .
The roll call was answered with a
display of heirlooms, "Show and
Tell". Following the minutes read
by, Mrs. John Scott, the report• of
the Craft Festival at Lucknow was
given which 'netted the treasury a
sizeable sum of money. Earlier in
the month , 10. members attended
the summer festival at Blyth to see
the play "The Blood is Strong".
Correspondence included an in-,
vitation to visit the Kairshea
Institute on August 19th at' 8
o'clock and also an invitation from
the Purple Grove Institute to their
meeting on September 1st at .8.30
p.m. These invitations were both
accepted. A letter was read from
Mrs. John MacKenzie relating to
door prizes :for the Farmstead
Home Improvement banquet at
Ripley and a cash prize was given,
as well as donations to the Lucknow.
