foreman Donnie P.eterbaugh injur-
ed his ankle. and up to last week it
was necessary for him to ,get
around wearing a plaster cast. Last
week the cast was removed and, the
° ankle is now bandaged. To add to
his troubles a bunch of yellow
jacket hornets or wasps decided to
build one of their paper nests on
'the south west corner of his house.

and family recently Moved to the
10th concession of Huron "Town-
ship.-They had been living •on the
MacDonald place across the. road
from Wilfred Shantz west of Ripley
for several years. They are now
living in the house once known as
the Gordon Stanley plaCe and now
owned by Donald MacKay:
• During the past week, John D.
MacKay and sons Brian and. Ken
have been busy dismantling the
house next door - home of the late
Mrs. Ernie Pollock. It was well
build by Albert Woodgate who
came from London', England and
was the owner, and operator of the
first lumber yard in Ripley and its
planing mill. There are two ply Of
lumber outside the upright wall
studs and one ply of lumber inside
then the lathe and plaster coating.
Then Bill Steer, now a resident at
the Pinecrest Manor Nursing
Home, had it covered' on the
exterior with insul-bric siding so it
must have been a warm house in
winter. By coincidence, Bill , Steer
also is a native of London. There is
a house one block east of Amberley
on 86 highway for which Bill hand
made all the bricks.
The writer of this column thanks
