DUNGANNON NEWS On• August 15, 1936, Margaret • 'Elizabeth Ryan and Gordon S. Kidd were married by Rev. • Turner in' Dungantion United chUrch. Mr. Kidd had been principal of Dungannon Public . School and later' served , in the same position in Wingham and Islington, and Dixon Grove Senior Public School fronl which he retired five years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Kidd then moved to their beautiful modern home near Georgetown. On August 15, 1976, they celebrated, their fortieth wedding anniversary in that home. Many professional associates and other friends came that day 'to congratul late •them and wish them many more years of health and , happi- ness. The guests enjoyed chatting, looking at snaps of Dungannon school' days and of the wedding. Another object of interest • was a model of the village bell which Mrs. Kidd's , father rang: faithfully many years in Dungannon. There was a• piece of the old bell rope • also. .Among the guests were Gwen Finnigan iMansz and Emily Mc- Gratten Masacar who once lived at Dungannon, and Murray and Florence Morton who were friends and schoolmates of Mr. Kidd in Southampton: - Mrs.. Margaret Pentland Pritchard of Toronto and Mr. Russel Kidd of Kingston, guests on Sunday, had attended' the wedding in 1936. Refreshments • were served by Sheila Kidd Gaunt and her husband, -Bob. The wedding cake was on, a beautiful silver cake dish, a family, heirloom of Mrs. Kidd's mother's family. Former Area Resident Dies MRS, ARTHUR DuMONT The • death occurred in Chelsey Park, Nursing Home, Mississauga, on Monday, July 26, of Mrs. Arthur DuMont ,of London, formerly of Zetland. Mrs. DuMont was in her 88th year. -Born in Zetland on July 19; 1889, Mrs. DuMont was the former Louise Eggleston, a daughter of the late John Eggleston and Catherine Stark. She was a graduate of the Spotton Business. College. Mrs. DuMont was a member of Whitechurch Presbyterian Church. Surviving are one -sister, Mrs. Bert (Jean) Reed, Listowel; and two brothers, John of ColonsaY, 'Saskatchewan and William of Newport Richey, Florida. She was predeceased by sisters Elizabeth and Mary and brothers George and The late Mrs. DuMont rested at the R. A. Currie and Son Funeral Home until Wednesday, July 28, when service was conducted-at two ' o'clock by Rey. Robert H. Arm- strong of St.. Andiew's Presbyter- ian Church, • Wingham. Interment followed in Wingham Cemetery. Pallbearers were Barry Reed and J. C. Reed of London; Ron Reed, Orono; Cliff Elliott, Mississauga; George Wraith and Rod Wraith. Brucelea Haven News The Gideons have -very kindly offered to take the Suaiday services for July and August while our ministers are on vacation. The service will be •at 2.00 p.m. in the chapel as usual. We had .a variety . program on Tuesday, July 2nd. Mr. and Mrs. Bayne and children and 'Miss Ada Stanley of Elmwood took part. Mrs. Bayne acted as M.C. and:was very hurnourous and witty. Mr: Bayne played several beautiful violin selections. This was followed by a dance by Sandra Bayne. Barry, Geoffrey, Sandra and Le- anne sang many lovely old .num- bers accompanied by Miss Stanley on the piano. At the conclusion they visited with our residents and all enjoyed -a cold drink. On Wednesday, July 7th the W.M.S. of the Presbyterian Church, Glamis came and put on our monthly birthaay party. There were twelve residents with' birth- days in July. The W.M.S. bought and presented a gift to each one of our birthday residents: Eleanor/ Thompson' and• Grace Surridge sang "Winking at Me", "My God and I" and "Back Home Again". The junior choir, Vincent and Paula Paaletti, John Thompson, Patti MacLennan and ' Eleanor Ruth Surridge sang "It All Belongs to My Father" and "It's a •Small World".. Theresa Davidson • sang "The Mounts' of the Morn" and Paula Paolette gave a little skit called "Sillie Millie". Eleanor Thompson, Christine O'Connor and Theresa Davidson concluded the program with that lovely song "Skiottish Soldier". Everyone sang "Happy, •Birt hday" and, cake and ice 'cream were served. A film, "Taking Care", was shovvri on Thursday, July 8th which proved to be very enjoyable and interesting. / A bus load, of residents went to Hanover on July 14th at 9.10 a.m. to Senior Citizens Zone Rally and had a most enjoyable day. We took our own boxed funch and tea and coffee was provided.
