Elmer Culbert has a brother Alvin

in Loveland. -Fear- for their. safety
was felt by relatives until a phote
Call on Tuesday from Mr. Mathe-
son saying they,. were safe, but
working around the clock at
chtirches and other larger buildings
helping, toidentify the victims and
feed and clothe the homeless.
Hundreds of people were stranded
and many more unaccounted for.
One baby. called .the Miracle Boy
was found alive crying on a rock in
the middle of the roaring Big
Thompson river. There were• more
than 5000 people visiting in the
Canyon on Saturday night when the
furious flood attacked with its 12
foot wall of water. Cars were- seen
floating, houSe roofs • were • every-
where. Mr: Matheson.Said it was a
miracle that there were as many
people, safe as. there are.

Mrs. Ewan MacLean spent a few
days in Sarnia visiting relatives and
friends.

barbecue during the, past weekend.
Mrs. Emile MacLennan is again
a patient in hospital' in London.
Mrs. MacLennan has spent a great
deal of the past' year in hospital.
Weekend visitors. with Mr. and
Mrs. Elmer Culbert were Mrs.
Harley Macintosh and Mrs. Velma
Ashton' of Plymouth, Michigan.
The girls are both sisters of Mr.
Culbert.
Mr. and Mrs. Finlay MacDonald
were guests at a wedding in Detroit
over the past weekend.
Mr. and Mrs. George MacDon-
ald and family are now residing on
the MacDonald farm. They' had
been living in London but returned
to farming.
The W.M.S. of Ashfield Presby-
terial avrch held their regular
meeting on Thursday evening in
the church.
The MacDonald reunion was
held on the holiday weekend in the
familiar Cedar Grove on, the
MacDonald farm.
Mr. and Mrs. Oliver McCharles
visited. in Montreal during the past
weekend with their son Allan who'
has been in hOspital and with his
wife Jean and family at their home.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Elphick
arid family have returned hoine-
from a camping..trip that took them
to Western Canada.

Fonthill visited with Mrs. Frank
Maulden and Keith and with. Frank
Maulden in the Wingharn and
District Hospital. Mrs. Phillips
stayed for a few days longer visit.

and District Hospital where she has
been a patient. We wish her
improved health.

home on Sunday last after an
enjoyable vacation to Western
Canada. '

here were Lee Fairhall and hdys of
Fort McMurray, Alberta and Mr.
and Mrs. Don Currie of London,
who are holidaying at Bruce Beach.
Mr, and Mrs. Wilbert Haldenby
of Toronto called on relatives and
friends here on Wednesday. Mr.
and Mrs. Haldenby celebrated
their 50th wedding anniversary on
August .18th.
