Lyle Ritchie, 21, of R. R. - 1
Springfield, was killed when the
truck in which he was a passenger
crashed into a tree off County Road'
• 6 in Millbank.,
The accident occurred at' 7.45
a.m. Thursday, August 4.
Driver of the truck, John Quipp,
16, of R. R. 6 St.. Thomas, was
• 'taken to Stratford General Hospital
for .treatment.'
According . to Listowel OPP, the
vehicle was travelling west on No.
6 County Road when it went out of
control, crossed the road, went pup
onto a front lawn and crashed into a
tree.
Lyle is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
°Harold Ritchie of St. Thomas area,
Harold being formerly of this
community., Lyle is a grandson of
Mrs. Gordon Ritchie of Lucknow.

More than 100 persons attended
the official opening of Ripley's first
senior citizens! housing project.
The project, with all 26 units'
already occupied, has been named

Injured In
Motorcycle Mishap
A ' 23-year-old ,Goderich man
suffered head injuries when his
motorcycle crashed on Highway 21
on the northern outskirts of
Goderich Wednesday night of last
week.
Brent Malcolm Boak, of 101 East
Street, was taken to hospital in
Goderich in serious condition, then
rushed by ambulance to University.
Hospital in London.
Goderich said no. other
vehicles were involved.
Brent lived in the. Lucknow and
Ashfield area as a child and went to
school here.
Jim Curran Passes
James Richard Curran, a resid-
ent of West 'Wawanosh Township,
died Monday, AugUst 23rd at his
home.. He was 61 years of age.
The funeral is today, Wednes-
day, at' 2 p.m. from •MacKenzie
Memorial Chapel, Lucknow with
burial in Greenhill Cemetery.

recently returned from a week's
holiday in Germany. They, flevV to ,
Frankfurt, on to Berlin and
Dusseldorf, then 'rented a car and
spent a couple of days at Soest,
where .Floyd' previously taught for
three years. They also spent a few
days in' Holland before returning.

, The annual "Mis's CNE
SWeetheart of the Fairs" Pageant
was the highlight that kicked off
the Canadian National Exhibition
on opening day; August 18.
This year 87 queens, from their
respective Agriculture Societies
competed for the Miss CNE crown
and honour of reigning over 20
days of the Exhibition.

ented Lucknow Agricultural Soc-
iety.

just about completed its 1976
season.
"The swim , team, coached by John
Campbell of Wingham and Craig
Treleaven of Lucknow, is compris-
ed of 25-30 young people from'ages
8-17 who swim in races' against
other young people from other local'
pools,
The first swim meet took place in
Wingham' on July 21st in which
Luckn'ow placed a comfortable
third. The second swim ineet will
beheld.on Wednesday, August 25
here in. Lucknow.
It willbe a dual meet between
Wirigham and Lucknow and corn-
mitnity support would be appreciat-
ed. So come out and join the fun
