National ,Farmer's Union presid-
ent Roy Atkinson and members of
the executive made a presentation
to Prime Minister Trudeau and his
cabinet, notably Agriculture Mihis-
ter Eugene Whelan and Wheat
Board Minister Otto Lang.
The presentation covered sec-
tions on inflation and the effects of
the anti-inflation program to farm-
ers. Also discussed were reeoin-
mendations on policy matters
relating to dairy products, feed
grains, livestcick and stabilization;
energy, fruit and vegetables,
trades and tariffs and ,WOmen's
rights.
Mr. Trudeau said that decisions

details. Mr. Trudeau seemed
surprised by the allegations of the
N.F.U. that the provinces acted in
an irresponsible manner in many of
the provinces throwing milk quotas
wide open.
Mr. Whelan seemed prepared to
take his lumps regarding the over
production of milk, but said the
provinces had to take some action
too.
Otto Lang, in charge of the
Canadian Wheat Board, seemed'
defensive of recent policies which
he admitted were designed tolower
the prices 'of feed grain in Western
Canada. Mr. Lang's reasons were
to develop a livestock feeding and
processing industry to serve an
export market,
It was pointed out to Mr. Lang by
the N.F.U. that since cattle have no'
formal marketing structure it would
be extremely hazardous: for farmers
to undertake expanded production
and assume all the risks.
Mr. Lang indicated that it is his
