Herman Lanting and Family News and Views From Huronview One hundred residents were entertained at the two barbeques which were. held this week on Monday and Thursday on the East Patio. A musical program was arranged for Family Night by Mrs. Hender- son of Home and provided by, the residents with some help from the staff. Intrumentals were played by Mrs. Elsie Henderson, Mrs. Myrtle Parker, Norman Speir and Jerry Collins. Vocal solos were by Chester Archibald, Wayne Lester and Morgan Dalton with a vocal ' duet by Elsie Henderson and Sarah Carter. Two'numbers by the men's chorus included Wayne, Morgan, Chester, Norman, Bob Taylor and Andy Scott with Glady Stanlake assisting with the action number. ENTER THE. Mrs. Charles Baker, the former Maggie Morrison, had passed away July,14 in Winnipeg in her 93rd year. Funeral service and burial was at St, Paul's United Church, Gilbert Plains, with burial in Eldon Cemetery on July 17th. Mts. 'Baker was predeceased by brothers Dr. "Wm. Morrison and James *Morrison and sisterSary Jane (Mrs. Reuben Tiffin), N ttie (Mrs. Cyril Kernahan) . and half brothers Jack and Harry. Hayes. Mrs. Baker was the last of this family. This' community extends their sympathy 'to Mr. and Mrs. Shetler and family in the sudden accidental passing of her sister Miss Alma Gingrich who fell off a load of hay with death following due to .the front wagon wheel passing over her. The funeral .was held on Saturday with temporary burial in Bethel Cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. Shetler reside on the former Dawson Craig farm., Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Tiffin, Mr,,,,„, and Mrs. Bill Purdon, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Mowbray spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs.' Athol Purdon and Mr. and Mrs. Relison' Falconer and family of Sarnia. JACK AND JILL SHOWER A Jack and. Jill shower was sponsored at Streetsville by Arlene' Stadalmeyer, matron of honour for, bride to be Mary Lou Milligan and her Jack, Brian Falconer, on Saturday evening. Other of JacieS friends were Paul Falconer, Kevin Falconer and Bruce .Freue and his friend. Among the gifts received were tea pot, glasses, cream and sugar, and butter dish in crystal, casseroles, pyrei bowls, kitchen utensils, baking pans, pillows, blanket, pillow cases, . can opener,. bedroom alarm clock. - While the gifts were being opened a hat of the bows was made for (Jill) Mary Lou and a tie of bows for (Jack) Brian. Mary Lou thanked the sponsors, all of ' the 27 , attenders, all school friends, and for their beautiful gifts. At the conclUsion of the shower Brian Falconer (Jack) also thanked the gathering. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas MacDon- ald and family of Kintail visited Sunday with Mrs. Ben McClenag- han. Misses Wendy Kay and Joanne Agnew of Lucknow left on Monday by train 'to -visit for three weeks at Kamloops,,British Columbia. The Chuck Wagon Races sched- uled for Friday evening at Tees- water was rained out and were re scheduled for Sunday afternoon. Quite' a few from the community attended. A large crowd gathered at the Wingham Park' for the picnic sponsored by. Whitechurch United -and -Presbyterian' congregations and Bluevale United ,and 'Presby- terian congregations and Bluevale United and Presbyterian congrega- tions. . At the United Church on Sunday Mr. Lawrence King, a former preacher here, had charge of the • service after being introduced by Rev. W. Brown. As usual he delighted every one by singing a solo three times to music played on his guitar. His sermon was . Religion a security. . he was accompanied by Mrs. King and family. Miss Florin Lever spent the weekeild with her niece S. B. Leggar of, Waterloo. • Bob Mowliray is going to Bruce Beach to, 'assist Rev. Angus MacKay Put up cupboards at his cottage. Athol Purdon has sold his home in Sarnia and is moving to Port' Colborne the end of August. Miss Rhonda Gibson is visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Dawson and Cindy at Campbellford. David Elliott is visiting tpis week with his sister, Mrs. Paul Laidlaw and Mr. Laidlaw of Windsor. Mrs. John Crowston of Lucknow and son Clarence Crowston, Mrs. Crowston, and Debbie of Chatham Enthusiasm may .set the pate, but it takes perseverance to • complete the job. ment by plane to Lytton, B.C. to visit with Earl (Bud) Crowston, Mrs. Crowston and family for a week,-returning home Sunday.
