Their Pinecrest. .•.., Happening By ,PaddrAnn ten Pas The beautiful, warm, summer days of summer are being much enjoyed by all file 5gsidents of Pinecrest Manor Nursing Home. Those days we longed for amid ;last winter's storms are here at last and that "good old sue does ,wonders for, alroost everyone. Along with' the lovely summer weather has come our Pinecrest Bus, with which we are able to take several residents in comfort on trips throughout the community. There is nothing more stimulating to our residents than to enjoy having a look at all the old "Homesteading Farms" in , this area. The highlight of last week's tour was a Coffee Party last Thursday morning at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Ivers, Dungannon. Mr. Ivers is presently a, resident at Pineciest. A delightful time was had by all as we chatted in their cosy kitchen and enjoyed Mrs. Ivers' baking.- Mr. Ivers Was able to spend the day with hiS wife and visited in the community, while the rest of us came, back to Piriecrest looking forward to our next outing. ,We have been having very active weekS here at Pinecrest though we, have come to the end of the season for most of our area churches and organilations.-' May I take the liberty here to tell you of some of the groups and activities we have had over' the year, who have come so willingly, to -give love along with entertainment . to our residents. All of the units of the Lucknow United Church have been most generous to the Home this year in terms of love and time they have extended to the residents. Each month we 'have enjoyed a link from the Lucknow United Church, Our local Kinette Flub,. which consists of charming young mat-, ions of our town, have given much pleasure to the residents with their evenings of bingo each month, and have provided lovely prizes. - Rev: Glenn Noble and Rev, Doug Kaufman have provided a beautiful service to 'the Home in that they have so willingly come and administered communion each quafterly. This has been much appreciated .by the residents and staff. The Lucknow Christian Reform- ed Church has been a real •blessing, St. Helens Mr. and Mrs. Bob AitchiSon and family attended the Rooney family picnic in Kenilworth on Sunday. • On Sunday afternoon, a relative bridal shoWer was held at the home of Mrs.: Isobel MacPherson to honour her niece, Betty Elliott. Betty liveS in Ottawa • where she is attending ,school. She formerly lived.; in cAilsa Craig. • Bev MacPherson 'is spending part of her summer holidays at her parents' home, Mr. and Mrs. Bill MacPherson. Mrs. Vera Miller and Trevor spent part of this week with 'Mr. and Mrs. Angus • MacDonald. Other weekend guests were 'Mrs. Jim MacDonald, Julie and Shawna of Edmonton, Mr. and Mrs. Peter MacDonald of . Lucknow, Mi. and Mrs. Doug MacDonald, Dungan- non, and. Mr. and Mrs. Dave MacDonald of Wingham. The Sieacer boys were hard at work this past week. They were busy painting the former residence of Mrs. V. Mintz. •A family dinner' was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Mewhinney on Sunday. Guests were Mr.• and Mrs. Hugh Hunter and Beverley of Kitchener, Doug Mewhinney and Cathy Arnold of Milton, Kathy Mewhinney of Hanover, . and Dave and Ken Mewhinney frcim home. Mrs. Florence Humphrey and Mis. R. LaMarre are spending a few days In Toronto,, Bible School children have also been a delight with their gifts of fruit at Thanksgiving and Easter. Mrs., A. E. McKim has been an ardent and helpful visitor to •- our Home and is much loved by all the residents. Now may I pause and sincerely thank all the churches in this area for, their care and co-operation in bringing many varied and interest- ing entertainments to the Home, We have had participation from every church in the Kingsbridge, Ashfield, St. Helens, 'VVhitechurch, Kinlough, Ripley, Dungannon and. of course Lucknow ,areas. You all are to be . commended for yoor ' kindness and generosity to Pine- crest Manor Nursing Home. Some of you 'were so kind to come and be with us-several times-over -the year.. May•we mention also our faithful volunteers, who make of our inter-home activities possible, Mrs. Harvey 'Webster, who so graciously comes. and plays the piano for us thereby making our arms and legs •Swing a little more easily for the sessions of Fun and Fitness each week; * the Olivet ladies of Ripley Church for all their' kind deeds during the year, who were always so willing to do anything 'and everything. Now to the people of our town, thank you for all' your continuing kindness to us. Please come and visit us this summer- kememher, you folk are "our' windows to the outside world". That's all 'til Fall. .•
