was •held, at the Ashfield' Park on
Sunday afternoon, July 4, Mr.
Steffler, retiring school principal;
will take up, duties in Western
Canada. Father Ed. Dentinger was
the 'chairman for a short program.,,
Presentations were made by Pat-
tick Frayne on behalf of the Parish
of Kingsbridge; Kathy O'Keefe on
behalf of the KingSbridge Youth
Club; Mrs. Clarence Doherty on
behalf of the Kingsbridge Catholic
Women's League; Brother Carl and
• father. Dentinger, and families in
the community. " Mr. Steffler
thanked everyone on behalf of his
wife and family. Following the
presentations games, of horsesho-
es; baseball, volleyball, shoe find-
ing and egg throwing contest and
races were enjoyed by the young
and those who,. wished, they were
younger. Gifts of free ice cream
and gum and candies were given to
all the children with special prizes
given.to those winning the different
contests. A' picnic lunch was
enjoyed 'with hamburgers, toffee,
soft drinks and ice cream available
for cost price.

day, *July 4 for a Canada Day

FATHER PASSES IN HOLLAND
Bill VanSchip left •for Holland on
Tuesday, June 29 after learning of
his father's illness. His father, Mr.
-John VanSchip of Holland passed
away on Wednesday, June 30 in his
78th year. The 'funeral Mass and
burial was celebrated in Holland on
,Saturday, July 3. Sympathy of the
community is offered 'to Bill and to
his sister, Stephanie, Mrs, Tony
Miltenbu'rg, Mr. Miltenhurg and
family. • '

on Tuesday, June 29. Approxim-
ately 25 guests attended. Follow-
ing dinner everyone joined in an'
old fashioned sing ,song with Mrs.
Mary Clare at the piano:
Several farmers from. this area
went by bus on Wednesday, June
30 to Parliament' Hill, Ottawa
;where they were joined by approx-
imately 1,000 dairy farmers in
protest of the Industrial Milk
Policy. In January 1975 farmers
were told to increase production
and by September 1975, after
offering incentive programs to do
this, subsidies were cut by 40%. In
May, 1976 the quota was cut 15%
and all over2quota production was ,
penalized by $8.60 per hundred.
The farmers left Lucknow at 3 a.m.
on Wednesday morning and re-
turned at approximately 3 a.m, 24
hour's later.
