Walden Reunion
Held At Arva
Weldon Parke Arva, Ontario was
the site of the second' annual
Walden Reunion on June 27. •
About one hundred descendants of
Thomas, David and rancis Wald-
en got together to renew friend-
ships and make new ones.
Following a bountiful pot luck
lunch, master 'of ceremonies Carle
Walden of Chatham welcomed‘
everyone and conducted a short
program.
A brief history of the David
Walden family was given by Edna
'Nickafor of Hamilton, of the
Thomas Walden family by . Eliza-
beth Brown of Simcoe, and the
Francis Walden family by Bruce
Walden of Arva.
Fred Appleton' of London won
the prize 'for the oldest person .
present, being a young 80. The
prize for the youngest person
preSent was won by Susanne
Robinson of London and Tara
Welch of London had the birthday
closest to the picnic. Allen Ritchie .
of Edmonton, Alberta came the
longest distance, andethe prize for
the most recently married couple '
went to Mr. and Mrs. George, .
Appleton, while Mr. and Mrs.
Douglas Pattison won for being
married the longest. The Walden
Family Olympics 'was won by the"
Francis . Walden teap and the
Bolton family of London had the
most members present. A
scavanger hunt was arranged for '
the children by John and Dorothy
Eedy of St. Marys.
It was decided to' have a picnic
every year and the committee for
1977 is Bernice Bolton, Douglas
Pattison and Ray Walden 'of '
London, Walden Allen and Hazel
Kaizer of Lambeth, Mary BroWn of
Sarnia, and Edna Nichafor of,
