The June edition of "Education
in Bruce County", by the Bruce
' Board of .clucation, contained
• some pictures of interest to the
folks in the Ripley Huron area.
One' Ok these was a shot of some
young students of the Ripley Huron
Central School getting a swimming
lesson in the indoor pool in the new
Kincardine Community Centre. A
second picture showed Cameron
MacAuley of the Sth concession,
east of Ripley, as vice president of
the • countr board. And a third
picture showed Miss Janice Need-
ham with her first prize entry in the
Junior section of the recent Bruce
County.,.., Science Fair held in, the
new Saugeen District High School
in Port Elgin. Janice is the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jim•
Needham of the tenth of Huron.

Among those n the drenching
rain on Saturday morning, June 19,
loading household• effects into cars
and trucks at the home,of Bob and
Isobel Lore, were Reg Godfrey and
Danny Finney, both of Ripley.
After the vehicles were loaded they .

This coming weekend is sure to
see considerable activity in Ripley.
First the members of the Ripley
and District Horticultural Society
are taking a bus tiip to the
Hamilton area. Two high points of
this trip will be a tour of. historic
Dundurn Castle and its grounds
and the Royal Botannical. Gardens.
'Starting at nine this Saturday
morning the public will be able to
view the many antique items on
Music Recital
The annual musical recital of
students of Mrs. Marion Gamble,
Ripley was held in St. Andrew's
United Church, Ripley with a good
number 'attending. The following

George McDonald's third annual
sale and the first time it will be held
in the new compiles where there is
ample' parking space.
On Tuesday evening of last
week, a Plaque Party by Mrs
Shirley Weber was held at the
home of Noreen and Jean IVIacDon-
ald on Malcolm Street in Ripley. It
was attended by friend,s and
neighbours. .
William Robertson of Glen
Everest in Agincourt visited on
Friday with his brother Bobby at
the family homestead on the tenth
concession east in Huron and with
friends in this area. Bill motored
back to Toionto early Saturday
morning to attend the running of
the Queen's Plate }forge race held
at the new Woodbine track early.
Saturday afternoon.
On Friday evening Shirley and
Murray, Weber returned, to their
Malcolm Street home here. They
were away Thursday and Friday.

Last Wednesday afternoon the
fire whistle sounded in Ripley. The
call was to the farni of Ernie
Coiling; two blocks south of Ripley,
at the corner of the fourth and
fifteenth in Huron Township.
Ernie had noticed excessive heat in
his mow of hay in the barn.
Firemen responding to the call
included Chief Ivan Cook, Clarence
Pollock, Ray Fuller, Donnie Peter-.
baugh, Joe Hodgins and Jack
Scott. More than 400 hay bales
were removed from the •centre of
the hay mow and placertputside to
cool off where they still are now.
On "stand by" at the. Ripley Huron
Firehall were Gard Scott and
George McLean.

Mary and Joe Rudder and Cathy
of Malcolm Street in Ripley visited
with her sister Margaret Anne and
Carl Morrison and Kevin at
Melbourne in the London area last
weekend.
Miss Karen Gale and John David
Wyld of Weston were married last
Saturday in. Riverside Emery
United Church in Weston. The
wedding ceremony was followed by
a reception in the Holiday 'Inn in
Etobicoke. , At present they are gn a
two week honeymOon to New Xork
and England, Attending from here'
were Wanda and Allan Wyld, Bill.
Wyld and Nina Silverstone, and
Donnie Wyld who was an usher,
and 'also Mrs. Minnie Wyld of
• Ripley, grandmother of the groom.;
John and Karen have visited in
Ripley during the past few , years
with the above named relatives'and
with Nora and Niels Predexiksen

Last Thursday members of the.
Ripley Senior Citizens - the Happy
Hearts Club enjoyed a trip north to
the Muikoka area. There were 46
on the outing which included four
hour cruise sight seeing among the
many islands with their wonderful
summer homes. The bus left the
Legion hall in Ripley at eight in the
morning and returned about fifteen
past eleven at night.

Visiting last Sunday afternoon
with his aunt S and cousin, • Mrs.
Mary Robertson and Miss Chris
Robertson, was Mr. and Mrs. John
R. Robertson of Alliston. Shortly,
John will be retiring from his
garage business there. John was -
raised in the Paramount area of'
Huron Township and attended the
R.C.S.

Mrs. Bob Gilchrist and Murray
spent 'last Tuesday in. London'
touring the "Wonder Bakery".
Mr. George 'Cresswell, the manag-
er, conducted the tour, and had
lunch, With June and Murray. Since
Murray is interested in this
occupation he found it very
interesting. •
Mrs, Lorne Sparks and 'her
daughter Bev ,,sang during the
church, service on Sunday. The
Maclntyre girls also favoured with
music with , Norma at the piano,
Marilynne and ,Margaret on Pith.
clarinets.
The school band put on a very
good band concert in Goderich on
Sunday .evening and quite' a
number from this area attended.
Mr. Lorne Sparks was guest
speaker 'at Huron Men's Chapel in
Auburn. on Sunday evening. Mrs.'
Sparks and Bev sang during this
service.
Mrs. Nancy Maclntyre held an
80th birthday -:party for George
Lockhart on Saturday evening.
Congratulations to Mr. Lockhart.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Rannie were
recent visitors with Mr. and Mrs.
Jim Burt.
Mr. and Mrs. -Hilcombe (Donna
Burt) had their baby christened at
Central United Church in St.
Thomas.
Mr.. and MrS. Leo Murray
attended the official opening of the
new addition of the Southampton
Museum on Sunday.
