pollution' of water supplies. It also
gives advice on the disposal of dead
animals. ,
The new' Code is intended to be
used as „a tool in rural land use
planning. One of the features of
this revised edition is the inclusion
of gindelines to 'be used by
municipal officials to 'regulate the
encroachment of non-agricultural
land uses on established livestock
farms.
As with previous editions, the
new' Code will be used as a
yardstick to assess farm livestock
operations for Certificates of Com-
pliance. The Certificate of
Compliance program in Ontario is a
voluntary evaluation of a livestock
production unit, its manure sys-,
tem, and the quality of manage-

meat. It is a measure of a farmer's
ability to, control pollution and thus
be a "good neighbour".
The new. Agticultural Code of
Prictice has been issued' ointly by
the Ministries of Agriculture and
Food, Environment, 'and Housing.

as well as offices of the other •

1976 BEEF CALF STABILIZATION
PROGRAM .
-The terms of the 1976 'program
are basically the same as The
fee is $5.00 per cow on the farm on
June 21, 1976. The stabilization •
payment will be' based On an 85%
calf crop Weighing 450 lbs. per calf,-
multiplied by the difference be-
tween 50c per pound and the
average price of calves this fall.
In 1975 the average price was
.29.8c and the payment was $77.00
per cow less the S5.00 ,enrollment
fee. ' •
' Everyone who enrolled in 1975
will receive a '1976 application in
the mail. Those who wish to enrol
for. the first time, may, get an
application from our office, tele:

Walkerton, after July 12th. The
deadline for applications is August
