BRUCE COUNTY
FARM REPORT
SAP BEETLES
Now that we ' are well into, the
fruit season, an 'annoying insect
pest usually makes an appearance.
Sap Beetles are about % inch long
and are black with four cream
coloured spots on their backs.
Their favourite hiding place seems
to be inside ripe raspbenies.
Control measures include( a)
keeping all ripe berries picked
before ,they drop to the ground (the ,
odor from rotting fruit attracts
them; b) keeping boxes of picked
berries off the ground; c) spraying
Malathion (1 1/2 tsp/gal of SO%
emulsion) up to one day of harvest.
Publication available at our office -

system of new livestock Buildings
and the renovation or expansion of
existing operations. It sets out
comprehensive manure manage-
