Store re-opened .with Mac-
Kay, daughter of Mr, and. Mrs.
Donald MacKay of the tenth
concession in Huron,,,on the job.
On Monday of last week Miss
Betty Peterson, nurse in Barrie
Hospital and her mother, Mrs.
Fran Peterson, motored to, Kincar-
iine to visit with their aunt and
sister, respectively, Mrs. Mae
Mel) Bennett of Kincardine. On
Tuesday afternoon they, visited
with Mrs. Fran Wylds in Ripley.

On Monday evening last week,
the Ripley Agricultural Society held
its June meeting with president
' Morley Scott of the Purple Grove
area in charge. Present were Mrs.
Marjorie Thompson, Ray Fuller,
•Mr. and Mrs. Jack Farrell, Mr. and
Mrs, Dan A. MacDonald, Mr. and
Mrs. John Gamble, Mr. and Mrs.
Russ Brooks, Cecil Sutton, Wes
Smith, Fran and Ab Wylds.
Discussion centred on improve-
: ments .of •the fair facilities and on
,:, this year's fair which is again on-
the last Saturday just ahead of the
big, International Plowing Match at
Walkerton. Next meeting is %on.

Robbie Sutton of the tenth
concession of Huron TownShin
reports the •third meeting of the
Ripley 4-H Beef Club, It was held
at the biome.. of one of the leaders
Wes Smith. At the meeting was
Bruce County Agricultural Exten
sion Assistant Randy Willick of
Walkerton. Randy explained -the
4-H Jamboree to be held at Guelph.
• He also explained beef cattle
judging techniques and then he
showed slides showing good and
poor quality bed carcasses. The
whole club thefi'travelled •to the
barn of Wes' father, Oliver Smith,
on' the sixth concession for first
hand experience. Here the
members got first hand experience
in placing a class of 4 stocker beef
cattle. . The Meeting concluded at
the home of Wes Smith. Here
plans were made to have a trip to.
Toronto on June 29 to see the
operations at a big meat packing
plant: Members thanked Randy
Willick •.and Mr. and Mrs. Wes
Smith.
The million dollar rain', so badly
needed 'by the farm crops and
gardens in this part. of Western
Ontario, -finally came , on Friday
night and lasted through to Satur-
day noon at Ripley. South of here it
lasted till mid afternoon. Finally
the sky cleared and the 'sun was
shining for Linda Culbert's wed-
ding at St. Andrew's United..
Church and for the auction sale' of
Bob and Isobel Love's household
effects at the new Huron Township
garage.
Mrs. Cameron MacAuley was
rushed by ambulance to Kincardine
and District ',Hospital early last
week.. Olwen is a patient there
after suffering , a painful spinal
injury in an accident at their farm
on the 10th sideroad - one . block
east of Ripley. Ripley and area
friends extend wishes to. Mrs.
MacAuley for her recovery and
return home.

This past weekend Mr. and Mrs.
Les Ross of Keswick • and Mrs..
Betty Whelan of Downsview visited
with their friends Niels' and Nora
Frederiksen on Malcolm Street.
On Sunday they celebrated a three
way birthday anniversary.
A Hanover bus tour left the area
last Friday bound for •the East Coast
of Canada, returning through
the North Eastern States, including
Nova Scotia, Prine, Edward Island,
and Vermont to mention a few
places. Some of those from this
area' on the two week tour are
reported to be Mrs. Gladys Arnold,
Mrs. Marjorie Thompson, Francis
and Margaret Genimell, Mrs.
Florence Kirkpatrick and Mrs.
Annie Scott.
Last week Mrs. Marion McChar-
les of the "I,ochalsh area and Mrs.
Jean Wylds of Ripley visited with
their sister Marjorie and husband,
Mr. and Mrs. Hartley McTavish in
Montreal. They also visited with
Marion's oldest son Allan, wife and
family there. The folks in this area
are glad to learn that Allan, who
underwent serious surgery recently '
in Montreal, is on the way to
recovery, The trip was, made by
bus to 'Toronto and from there by
plane.
George McDonald is holding his
annual sale of antiques on Satur-
day, July 3rd. This is George's
third sale and, !Ails are posted

Lait Saturday's radio summary
report for the week's trading at, the
:Ontario Livestock Yards in Toronto
listed John C. MacDonald 'of the
8th concession, just west of Ripley,
and John D. Thompson of the 4th
concession in Huron TownShip for
having shipped cattle bringing topt
prices for the week. Ripley drover
Leonard Courtney of the Amberley
area shipped John C. MacDonald's
cattle.

The craft show in Ripley is going
ahead - scheduled for July 30 and
31. This year it will be held in the
new. Ripley-Huron Reereation Corn-
plex building. 'Last year it was in
the Ripley-Huron Central School at
the west end of Ripley. The
committee in 'charge of this craft
show has made substantial dona-
tions from' the proceeds over the
past years to such projects 'as the
.Ripley Area Medical Clinic, the
Ripley Huron Recreation Complex,
the Ripley Agricultural Society,
and the Ripley Senior Citizen's
apartments. This last donation will
be formally presented at the official
opening of the Senior Citizen's
Apartment Building.

Mrs. Marie Crawford is back to
their home in Ripley. Her
husband, Orah is back in', the
Kincardine and District •Hospital.
Earlier this summer Mr. and Mrs
Crawford had an apartment a
Prince's Court in Kincardine whet
Orah was discharged for ,a whip
from, the hospital there.

On Monday of last Week Normal]
Schmidt of Walkerton and At
Wy.lds toured this' area inspecting
the fields in the hay arid pasture
field crop competitions.
The heavy rains' last Satutday
morning presented a threat' to the
auction sale for Bob and Isobel
Love. Decisions and zhanges had
to be made as it was impossible to
put the household effects outside,
'on the lawn west'of their home. As
a result there was quite a
community moving bee to help Bob
and. Isobel.. This resulted in the
