The ladies of the Ripley' Legion
Auxiliary held a kitchen cleantip in
the Ripley Legion hall last Wed:
nesday afternoon. 'On the job were
Barb Paquette, Nadine Danforth,
Eileen Emmerton, Lois' Pollock,
Kathy Gallant, Audrey' McLay and
Fran Wylds. They also worked on
Thursday evening and Friday
afternoon'when they were joined by
Jean Wylds. On Friday the ladies
planted annual flowers outdoors at
the Legion Hill,

Mr. and Mrs." R. E. Goodin of
Oakville and Bruce Beach' were
among those attending the anniver-
sary service last Sunday morning in
St. Andrew's United Church in:
Ripley. Dick has been a member
for several years now of the Haltdn
County Board of Education. After
church he and Mrs., Goodin called
fora brief visit with old friends

During the past weekend Wil-
liam Robertson of Glen Everest in
Agincourt visited at the homestead
on the tenth concession with his
brother Bobby and with other
friends in this area.

lylr..and Mrs. Donald A. MacIver
of Toronto recently visited with
their sister-in-law," Mrs. Martha
MacIver, at her Ripley home. They
also called on relatives in Kincard-
ine.
Alex MacAuley has been a,
patient in ,Kincardine General
Hospital for two weeks now. Ripley
friends extend wishes for a speedy
recovery.

Word was recently received by
two former neighbours, Dave
Murray and Mrs. Adeline Hackett
of Ripley, 'of the death in May of
Art Farnell in Toronto. Artie, son
of the late Mr. and Mrs. Harry
Farnell, was raised on the sixth
concession on the farm where Mr.
and Mrs. Jim W. Brooks now live.
This was the Farnell family
homestead many years ' ago.
Funeral service was held in
Toronto.' tie left Ripley over 40
years ago to , establish his own
business in Toronto.. Surviving are
his wife and his three sisters Jean,
Beth, and Grace. To these,'
sympathy is extended at this time
of bereavement.

Last Sunday 'evening was a first
for roller skating. It was held in the
new Ripley Huron Recreation
Complex building.
Back from Texas where they
spent last week are Don and Annie
McCosh, each` with a white 'Stetson

May 27th. They were here to
discuss necessary improvements as
requested by the local! committee.

Forrester .of Malcolm Street in
Ripley returned last week from a
motor trip to Manitoulin Island and
pear Northern Ontario. They went
by Tobermory and returned
through Muskoka. ,
Miss Christena Robertson arriv-
ed home the *middle of last week
after a visit in Ottawa. Before het
retirement Chris was employed in a
secretarial position there for many
years.
Mrs. Wray Osborne has returned
home after a month's holiday in
Nova Scotia. She accompanied Mr.
and Mrs. Percy Wamboldt of
Vernon, B.C. who motored, to
Ripley and on to Caledonia," N.S.,
returning via the • New England
States. 'The Wamboldts have now
left for their home in British
Columbia after spending a few
days at the Osborne home.

Bruce County cattlmen's As-
sociation had a Texas tour for
members and ' wives last week;
There were 46, including their tour
escort, Ralph McLean of Hanover,
who enjoyed a tour of feedlots,
ranches, university test station and
packing plant. They attended a
double header ball game in the
Houston Astrodome. Then they.
toured. a dairy farm with 1500
.milking Holstein cows at Dallas, a
cotton gin at Lubbock and a quarter
horse ranch called the Pitch Fork.
Then there was a fun evening'
including barbecue buffalo steak
dinner at Amarillo: at the Big Ranch
Steak House. On Friday eyening
the folks enjoyed another beef
barbeque at the Jack , Maxson
Ranch at Forth Worth after touring
