Board Meet
WHITECHURCH NEWS
On Thursday evening, June 10th
those interested hi. Langside Ceme-
tery met at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Victor Emerson.
e president, Bill Evans, allied
the Meeting to order and 4 t
a warm welcome to all. The
minutes were read by the secret-
ary, Mrs. Victor Emerson. It was
decided to stay by the by-laws 'Mid
prohibit tree and_ shrub planting in
the cemetery. •
All were agreed 'to have a
Memorial service at the 'cemetery
June 27 at 3 p.m., weather
permitting. If the weather is .
unfavourable the service will be
held at ,- Langside Church. , The
,guest speaker will be Mr. Bev Kay.
Mrs d Tiffin, treasurer,• gave
the financial statement which had
been audited by Mrs. Dave Gibb
and Mrs. Russel Chapman showing
a balance of $456.22. It was
decided to invest $235. of this
amount in perpetual upkeep fund.
Bill Evans reminded all of the need
for 4 planks. It was decided to,,'
purchase these and see if they
could be' stored at Wilford Clipper-
ton'. • Fred, Tiffni, agreed West the
grass as last year. Mrs. CEff
Young offered, to assist Mrs. V.
Emerson to paint the steel posts
with aluminum paint. A bee is to
be arranged when weather is
suitable to repair the grounds.•
The election of officers are
president, Bill. Evans; secretary,
Mrs. Victor Emerson; treasurer,
Mrs. Fred Tiffin; trustees, Wm.
'Voting, Elmer Scott, Bob Orr;
caretaker, Fred Tiffin.
The meeting. in 1977 is to be held
first week of. June. Wes Young
moved the meeting adjourn. Mrs.
Victor Emerson served lunch to the
11 attenders.

Mr. and Mrs. Jack Champion of
London visited recently with Mt.
and Mrs. Marvin* Smith. Mr. and
Mrs. Peter Lauzon of Stoney Point
spent the weekend with her
parents,- Mr.' and Mri. Smith.
Mrs. Grace McIver and Miss
Olive. Blake visited with Mr. and
Mrs. 'ROA'. Irvin recently. Miss
Olive Blake stayed for a couple of
days and called on other friends in.
the village.
Miss Ruth Bere and NESS' Joanne
Renaud of Windsor visited Mrs.
-Mary Bere last 'weekend. On

MUSIC RECITAL
Mrs. Ruth Alton and her music
pupils put on a successful and
enjoyable music recital at BrOok-
side School on Wednesday even-
ing. Mrs. Alton and Mrs.- Don
Hackett served refreshments after-

Miss Sue Godfrey and friend, of
Kitchener spent the.weekend with
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Howard'
Godfrey.
Mrs. Dorothy Chisholm and her
Grade '3' 'class, accompanied 'by
Mrs. Helen,Blake, took a, field trip
to Godericil on Friday and toured
the jail and the museum.,
Mrs. Lois Farrish and. her,
kindergarten class, accompanied
by several parents,' enjoyed a trip
to Grand Bend Zoo last week.
Mrs. Olive Straughan, who has
spent some, time with her daughter
and, son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. K..
K. Dawson, went to Clinton on
Friday to visit her daughter Betty
and son-in-law,' Mr. and Mrs.
Stanley.
Mrs. Errington's sister, Mrs.
Robert Morgan and Norma of
Kerwood visited with Mr. and Mrs.
George Errington and family last

Speakers For
June Meeting
There was something of interest
for everyone at the June meeting of
Lucknow and District Horticultural
Society, held in the Legion Hall
Tuesday, June 9 at 2 p.m.
In the absence of the president,
Mrs. Harvey Mole, Mrs. Ena
Henderson presided. A good
financial report was given by the
treasurer Mrs. Alex Andrew.
There are 142 members. A number
of new projects have' been under-
taken by the society. The grounds
at the medical centre have been
landscaped and new' planters are
being built and filled at the east'
and west entrances to the village,
Mrs. George Kennedy gave a
very interesting .travel talk, review-
ing a trip taken earlier this year by
herself and ,Mr. Kennedy. They
travelled by plane to Italy, then by
boat on. the Mediterranean Sea to
Egypt, Israel, Turkey and Greece.
Mrs. Grant introduced Mrs.
English of Wingham who displayed
some very artistic and unusual wall
plaques made with dried flowers,
shells etc. even the jaw bone of a
cdw. Members were interested in
the detailed methods she described
for preserving and drying various
kinds of flowers," leaves „and
grasses. She was thanked by Mrs.
Grant and presented .with a gift.
A lively auction sale, chiefly of
plants, ended the afternoon pro-
gram. Mrs, Ena Henderson was
the • capable auctioneer, and the
treasury was enriched by about
$20.

girls received County Honours for
having • suceessfully completed 6
clubs: Virginia Chisholm, Annabel-
le Stewart, Sharon, Young and
Betty. Errington.,Betty • Culbert
received Provincia Honours for 12
completed clubs.

Miss Irene Hasty is home from
Regina for a week or so with Mr.
Lorne Hasty and Brock. •
Mr., and Mrs. Allan Corbett of
Orangeville spent a couple of days
with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Curran and
called on,other friends in this area.
Weekend visitors with Mr. 'and

Mrs. Gordon Congram broke her
arm recently in aifalt 'at' her home.
BROKE BOTH WRISTS
Gareth Jones and Duane Rivett
took a tumble from Gareth's bike ,
last week, and Gareth, broke both
Wrists, so he is sporting a cast on
each arm for a while and will have
to do his school work orally for the
rest of the term.
Mrs. Martin's parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Cyrus Bowman 'of Elmira,
spent the weekend with Mr. and'
Mrs. Peter Martin.
The Young People' of the '
Christian. Fellowship Church at-
tended the . Q. J. Everest Crusade
Youth Night in Listowel on
Saturday evening. The theme of
the inspiring and helpful message
was, "The Greatest Life".
On Sunday, Pastor' Zehr
continued his series on 'the Holy
Spirit with a message about Jesus
teaching on the activities of the
Spirif. Next Sunday the message
will concern the Holy Spirit and Ifs
Gifts. Everyone is welcome to join
the worship at Christian Fellowship
Church.
The Grade 1 class, with their '
teacher Mrs. Louise Wilson and
several parents, visited African
Safari at Rockton last Monday. •
