A beautiful summer afternoon on
• June 13th at Lu'cluiciw Central
Public School grounds provided an
excellent .setiing for the picnic of
Sunday School 'and 'Church mem-
bers of the Presbyterian Church...
An afternoon of games, contests
and good fellowship was enjoyed
by all present, including few
visitors.
Bruce Raynard and Brian Gam-
mie organized a baseball game for
the older ones and laces for little
ones started off the afternoon.
Later all joined together • in the
competitions. •
Results were: relay races, 5 and
under, David Hallam; and '7,
Danny Gilchrist; 8 and 9, Tracy,
McDonagh; 10 and 11 girls, Janice
McInnes; 10 and 11 boys, Glen

All. sat down to a bountiful picnic
lunch under the cool shade. trees.
'A very' special thanks to all those
who turned out' or supported' our
1976 picnia, with hopes pf a bigger
event next year.

Donnybrook United Church'
Women met at the home of. Mrs.
Otto Weber on Tuesday evening',
June 8 with a good attendance.
Mrs. Glen McConnell opened the
meeting with hymn 131, The Lord
is my shepherd. Mrs. Glen
McConnell read the scripture,
Matthew 26, followed with the
meditation. The hymn, Unto the
hills around, was read as a
responsive reading' followed with
prayer. Mrs. McConnell 'read 'a
poem. Mrs. J. Hildebrand used
the story "I would rather die", from
the observer with discussion fol-
lowing. Mrs: Hildebrand read a
poem "The Breath pf Spring".
Hymn, What a friend we have in
On June 10, the annual Grand-:
mother's meeting was held at
Trinity Church, with 20 members, 9
visitors and .3 children present.
Mrs. Chester Hackett welcomed all
the ladies and read a poem, My
God, Is No Stranger. All joined in
singing, How sweet the name of
Jesus sounds. Mrs. Frank Alton
led in prayer and then all' repeated
the Lord's prayer in unison. Mrs.
Cook gave a reading "The Gospel
According to You". The minutes
were answered with the name of a
woman in' the Bible.
Mrs. Tom Helm introduced the
devotions with verses, from Tim-
othy 1: 6 to 1.2. Hymn 174 was sung
and. Mrs. Suzanne Andrew read
seripture from Acts 4. • Mrs. Helm
gave the, meditation "In • God's
Hinds" assisted by Mrs. Suzanne
Andrew with a poem "Deliver Us".
All sang hymn 183, 0 Lord of Life
and Suzanne dosed devotions with
prayer. Mrs. Donald Hackett
reported on 'a / meeting of the
executives at Kirkton and then
Mrs. Donald Hackett and Mrs.
Douglas Raynard presented a skit
on Missionary Givings as a guide to
our Mission giving.
)004$1rs. Ralph Canieron had the
birthday the closest to, the meeting
date. Mrs. Wm.°Andrew had the
youngest grandchild. Mrs. W. 0.
Hunter had the most grandchildren
(16) and Mrs. Albert Cameron the
most buttons on her dress.
Mrs. Blake Alton Played two
violin solos, accompanied by Mrs.
Ken Alton on the piano. Mrs.
Proctor had the wedding anniver-
sary closest to January 1. Mrs.
Proctor also 'won a contest, Mrs.
Douglas Cameron .reported 'for the
4-H club "A Touch of Stitchery"
and showed some of the completed
samplers and wall hangings. Mrs.
Ken Alton gave the Trinity Tattler.
Following the remainder of the
business, hymn 288, Saviour like a
Shepherd lead us, was sung and
Mrs. Cook closed the meeting with
prayer. ,A dainty lunch was served
by The committee in charge. The
July meeting will, be held a. little
later in the month than usual so
watch for the announcement.
Jesus, was sung. Mrs. Hildebrand
gave , a prayer.
Mrs. E. Snowden took over the
business part of the meeting; Mrs.
M. Johnston reported sending the
bale.
Hymn 199 was sung and Mrs. J.
Hildebrand gave the closing pray- •
er.
Mrs. Ernest Snowden and Mrs.
Wes Jefferson , assisted the hostess
serve lunch.

Mrs. Raynard Ackert welcomed
the members of Unit 1, Lucknow
United Church Women to her home
on Tuesday afternoon, June 1st.
There were. 21 members and, one
adult and one child as visitors
present. ' The roll call was
answered with a • favourite spring
flower. .
Mrs. Chas. MacDonald welcorn-
ed all and opened the meeting with
a poem "We Thank Thee Father".

ship, Mrs, Lorne Woods, gave a
paper on Human Rights from the
Habitat Conference being held in .
Vancouver. Mrs. Eldon Henderson
gave a reading "A Kindly Deed"
and an excellent report on com-
munity friendship and visiting.
Mrs. Glen Walden, convener for
social functions, gave the report of
2 banquets and thanked: all 'who
had helped.. Mrs. Russ Button
gave a paper on Stewardship, and
Mrs. W. G. Hunter, convener for
supply and welfare, gave a report
and a special collection was taken,
for Angola.
Mrs. Eldon Henderson, MrS.
Cliff Menary and. Mrs. Murdock
MacDonald were in charge of the
program. The devotional was
opened by singing hymn "What a
friend we have in Jesus". Mrs..
Lorne Woods read the scripture
from St. Paul's letters to the
Thessalonians and Mrs. Cliff
Menary gave a good commentary
on the passages read, followed by
prayer. The hymn "Take time to ,
be Holy" was sung. Mrs. Glen
Walden 'very capably gave the
study on China dealing especially,
with the change in health care since
the-revolution in 1949. Previous to
this time not even minimal steps
were undertaken in sanitation,"
innoculation, etc. to prevent dis-
ease. Mrs. Henderson gave a
reading ,"If God went on strike!'
and closed with prayer and thanked
all who helped, with the program.
Mrs. MacDonald gave courtesy
remarks and closed with the
mizpah benediction and grace was
sung. Following a. very successful
hobby sale with Mrs. Glen Walden
auctioneer, lunch was served by
the hostess and committee.

WHITECHURCH NEWS
The Whitechurch United Church
Women held their meeting June 3
at the home of Mrs. Elmer
Sleightholm with an attendance 'of
12. Mrs. Tom Davidson, convener
of stewardship, was in charge, of
the meeting. The hymn, "Who is
on the' Lord's side" was, sung.
•Mrs. Gerald Smith led in prayer
and gave, a reading.
Mrs. Dalton Schultz read scrip-
ture, Matthew 5: 1-16 and 2nd
Corinthians 4: 5-7. Mrs. Davidson
gave thd meditation on Steward-
ship followed by the hymn "Come
'let us sing of a wonderful love'% •
Mrs. Davidson read "Take My Life
and Let It Be", The call was
answered by telling the story of a
picture brought. .
The meeting, cloSed. Grace was
sung' and a birthday tea followed.,
W.M.S. Afternoon
Auxiliary
The Women's Missionary Soc-
iety of the Presbyterian Chinch,
Lucknow, met in the Sunday School
room for the June meeting with an
attendance of 20. Mrs. Omar
Brooks presided, and opened the
meeting with the theme and
purpose of the W.M.S. repeated in
unison.. Following the hymn, Mrs.
Loree led in prayer.
The . secretary read the corres-
pondence, a letter clarifying the
origin and purpose of the World
Day of Prayer. The supply,
secretary reported that $50.00 had
been given for the supply.fund, and
anyone wishing to donate clothing
for the bale should leave it with
her.
The July picnic meeting'was
discussed, and it' was decided to
invite the Evening Auxiliary and
the W:M.S. in Whitechurch. Mrs.
Brooks was asked to arrange for a
speaker for the meeting. A vote of
thanks was extended to all the
ladies who assisted at the Presby-
terial dinner.
Mrs. Wm.' Reid gave the Bible.
Study, "A date, with destiny'',
reading from Esther, "Who know-
est Whether thou art come to'the
Kingdom for such a time as this".
Mrs. Brooks gave the offertory
' prayer, Mrs. George 'Kennedy had
the Mission Study, the theme.being
following Christ into the world. It'

Mrs. Win. Porteous (Mt's. Young),
Mrs, Wm. Reid (Rev. Kyung) and
