ROLLER SKATES
On Friday, our students ‘council
president, Ken MacKay, presented
67 pair of roller skates to the Ripley
'Complex. These skates were
bought with the $3,000,00 last
year's students council raised, with
most of it coming from the
dance-a-thon. There is still money
left to be put towards skates. So
when you" are skating at . Ripley
Complex, think of all the work that
Went into raising the money to buy
the skates. And I, as one of those
future skaters,, say THANK YOUll
ASSEMBLY
On Friday we • had our final
assembly of the year. In saying
goodbye to our graduates Mr.
Brown announced what they would
be doing next year. In our Grade
12 class there will be three people
leaving us. Larry Carter and Mike
Gallant are presently seeking
employment and Danny Hickey will
be attending Conestoga College for
a course in Criminology. Kevin
Cook, 'Norma Crozier, Sandy Lid-
die, Ken MacKay, Ardis Nichol-
son, and Priscilla Ziphel will be •
returning for. Grade 13.
In our grade 13 class, .Bob
Campbell will be attending Centra-
lia Agricultural College for Agricul-
tural Business Management.
Barbara Grubb will be at University
of Western Ontario for a General
BA. . Courtney Liddle will be
working. Patti MacDonald is going
to Queens University for ,General
Arts. Peter MacDonald IS attend-
ing Fanshawe College for a course
in Air Conditioning and. Refridgera-
tion. Carol MacKay will be going
to University of Western Ontario
for an English B.A. Barry Marshall
will be attending Humber _College
for Hotel and Restaurant Manage-
ment. Julie McGuire will be • at
home raising her family. Nancy
McGuire will'be attending either
York or Western for General Arts.
Debbie Peterbaugh will go to
Fanshawe College for Dental
Assistant, Janice 'Reeves is going
to' Conestoga College for Criminol-
ogy. Wray Thompson is going to
University of Waterloo for Mathe-
matics. Arlene Tranter is going to
Fanshawe College for a Secretarial
Course. Good luck Grads!
Next on the agenda at the
assembly was thanking Mrs. Hus-
ton who taught at our school this
year and is leaving us. She was a
very good teacher and we are sorry
to see her leave us. •
Then Mr. Brown gave out. the
Intramural Crests. These are the
teams that play at noon hour r .
Those who received the volleyball
crests for girls were Arlene
Tranter, Laurie Coiling, Ardis
Nicholson, Dawna Rutledge, Mary
Margaret Smith, Heather Boyle
and Ruth Cluley. The boys crests'
were won by Mike Gallant, Mark
Stanley, Glenn. Grubb, 'Greg Rouse
and Rick Clampitt.
'The girls basketball crests went
to Barbara Grubb, Janice Farrell,
Jocelyne Poirier, Denise Huber,
Ann Drzazga, Bonnie Van Horne
and Donna Elphick. The boys
crests went to Randy Ackert, Jeff
Rouse, Dave Linde, Sandy 'Addle, •
Robbie Lowry and Mark 'Stewart.
Winner of, the boys table tennis
crest was Glenn Grubb and" the
girls went to Barbara Grubb. Way
to keep it in the family, folks!.
Junior girls .badminton champs
were Mary Margaret Smith and
Denise Huber. Senior girls champs
were Janice Farrell and Barbara
Grubb. Junior boyS champs Were
Brian Huston and Robert Regier
and senior boys were Larry Farrell
and Chris McGarvey,
Next the, track and field chant-
pions were' awarded their medal-
ions and sweat shirts. The girls
champions were Midget - Dawna •
Rutledge. and Junior - Janice
Farrell. The boys champs were
Midget - Brian Coning, Junior
Robert Regiet, and Senior Mike
Gallant.
The School Bars are presented to
.those who are, on 'the school team
for the first time. Basketball bars

chevrons were presented to the
teams that won the Bruce County
title this year. The members of the
junior girls volleyball 'team that

Last on the agenda for sports the
"Golden Balls" marking the win-
ners of , the Ripley Classic were
presented. A certain teacher in our
school' has been striving . to have
Barbara Grubb as a partner in
ping-pong all through Barbara's
high school career and finally this
year being Barb's last, he managed.

The assembly closed with our
principal, Mr. Turvill, wishing us

KINLOUGH NEWS
The meeting of die Holyrood
Women's Institute was held on
Thursday evening at the hall with
Mrs. William MacPherson presid-
ing. The meeting opened with'the
Ode and the Miry Stewart 'Collect.
The roll, call was Something I am
interested in seeing at our Interna-
tional Ploughing Match.
Mrs.. John Scott gave the
that there were 30 blue jean jackets
to be sold.. This year the proceeds
went to the Cheerleaders who are
working towards buying new
uniforms. We made $24. The best
bargain of the sale was a suit coat
that Peter MacDonald bought , for a
small sum. ,What do you' think Mr.

Leo Murray, reeve of Kinloss
ToWnship, introduced the next
guest spaker, Mr. Douglas Parish,
assistant Planning Director for
Bruce County, who ' explained
the new Ontario Zoning Pia* He
brought pamphlets and was table to
answer any questions. Several of
the men were present and 'took part
in a novelty musical number.: MisS.
May Boyle gave a reading 'The
Farmer Does It Again". Mrs.
Frank Maulden thanked both of the
guests and presented them with
gifts.
Mrs. Raynard Ackert conducted
a contest "How well do you know
the Ploughing Match personnel' 2 .
Directors were Mrs. Raynard
Ackert and Mrs. john Scott.
Miss Edna Boyle will be the July
hostess. The meeting closed with
0 Canada and the Institute Grace,
after which a delicious lunch was
served by Mrs. William' MacPher-
son, Mrs, Raynard Ackert and Mrs.
John Scott.
