On June 6th, Monsignor Louis. J.
Phelan celebrated 40 years in the
priesthood.. native of Blyth, a
son of the late 'Wm. •Phelan and.•
Mary Ryarr, he was ordained to the
ptiesthood in St. Peter's Cathedral
June 6th, .1936. He has served in
the following parishes, St. Joseph's
Chatham; Our Lady of Mercy,
Sarnia; 'St. ' Patrick, Merlin; St.
Augustine and St. Mary's Luck-
now; St.. Brigid's, Mitchell; • St.
Michael's Leamington.. Monsignor
served the Leamington , parish 'for
nineteen years. He retired in 1970
and returned to the peace and quiet
of St. Augustine. '

Quinlan and Rev. P. Fuerth
participated in a concelebrated
'Mass. Father Quinlan and • Father
Fuerth both had worked, in, the
Leamington parish for a period of
time when Monsignor' worked

presently in Lagos, Nigeria;44
where he will be employed for one
year.
Jerry, an engineer, his been
working in Montreal and his firm
there has posted him to the
Nigerian project where they .are in
charge of the engineering- work on,
the Kainji Dam Powerhouse exten-
sion.
Jerry will oversee the concrete
part of the dam construction. He
left for Africa two' weeks ago and
spent about four days in .London,
England en route. „ •

and Mrs. Max Bushell, Lucknow,
received her honours Bachelor of
Arts degree in Physical Education
on Tuesday, June 8 from the'
University of Western 'Ontario.
Graduation exercises were held
at Alumni Hail, University of
Western batario, London.
KINGSBRIDGE NEWS
Mr. and Mrs. Peter 'Vogt are
building a new restaurant, 30 feet
by 36 feet, on their property• on
Highway 21 just south of the
kingsbridge Church. It will seat
from '40 to 60' persons. The
contractor is J. P. Ducharrne of
Zurich.
The basement was poured last
week. Mr. Vogt is presently
employed as a cook at the Sutton
Park Inn, Kincardine and ,his wife
Stephanie is. employed at the
Candlelight Restaurant and Tavern
• in Goderich.
This new restaurant hopefully
plans to open by the 15th of
August. With ,this opening,.
Kingsbridge will, once again,. have
an official, road sign and be marked
on the road map.

In Monday Vote
76,1% of the voters casting
their ballot on the one liquor
question on Monday's vote in
Lucknow favoured the sale of
spirits, beer and wine under a,

Thomas MacKenzie, age 62, a .
resident of Brucelea Haven in
Walkerton, died Sunday at the
County of Bruce Hospital in
Walkerton. Tom was a former
resident of Kinloss and Lucknow.
A private funeral service will be
held today, Wednesday, at 2 p.m.
at the MacKenzie Memorial Chapel
in Lucknow. Burial will be in South
ICinloss Cemetery.

Injured In
Car Accident
David ',MacDonald of Wingham
was seriously injured in a single
vehicle motor accident on June
11th at the outskirts of Wingham.
He lost control of his vehicle at
the Hudgins MacDonald corner on
Highway 4, the vehicle entering the
ditch.
He .was admitted to Wingham
Hospital•with multiple injuries and
transferred immediately to St.'
Joseph's 'Hospital, London.
Dave Farrish
Signs With Rangers
Dave Farrish, son .of Mr. and
Mrs. Duncan Farrish of Lochalsh,
has signed a three year contract
with New York Rangers of the
National Hockey League.
.Dave., a defenceman with Sud-
bury in the Ontario Hockey
Association Junior A ranks, was
the Rangers second round amateur
draft' choice.
The township of Kinloss has set
the 1976 tax rate for the municipal-
ity with reductions in the general
township rate and county as well as
one school rate.

Died At Age 71
John MacKenzie Crowston of
Lucknow •died at • Wingham and.
District Hospital on Tuesday, June
8th. `He. was 71 years of age.- •
The funeral was held on. Friday,
June 1 lth, from MacKenzie Mern-
orial Chapel, Lucknow ' with burial
in Greenhill' Cemetery.

Gerrie Glenn of DUngannon, who
has constructed several houses and
apartmenti in the village . in the
past few years, appeared before
the Lucknow Council last week
seeking permission to . erect an
apartment building some time in
the future on property: recently
purchased from Alex Mowbray,
west of Ross Street.
• Mr. Glenn has purchased a size-
able amount of 'property from Mr.
Mowbray to - the west of existing
residences on .Ross Street and•
extending westerly into the old
gravel pit, to the south of the ball
park.
Mr. Glenn's long range plans for
the apartment building would be
about 1'/2 years away.
Access was 'proposed through a
walkway and driveway on existing
property he owns fronting on Ross
Street.
Council met with Mr:. Glenn 'at
the site the night following council
meeting' to • further ':consider the
proposal.
