By the time we reached Oakville
we were• eager to perform'', The
pupils and staff of E. A. Orr School
enjoyed our music, and they,
clapped and danced along with us.
We did not realize until after the
conceit that we were in, the
presence of a television star. The
little girl who starred in a CTV, W 5
documentary on Sick Children's
Hospital in Toronto, was a kinder-
garten student at the school.
Needlesi to say, we were all
thrilled to have seen her and we
were proud that she was' up
dancing to our music.
Wednesday afternoon we played
our second' concert at Bala Street
School in Toronto., It was without a
doubt the most exciting concert we
have ever played.. The audience
and several band members danced
to some of the pieces. Afterwards
the students—flocked around —us.
eager to know about our instru-
ments' and, to get our autographs.,
One band member, Paddy Murray,
was even asked for a piece of his

air
shirt. We -then'• travelled on to
Kingston and after a tour of the city
we -settled into our motel for the
night, , • '
In , BroCkville the next day we
played'at Toniata Public School and
then on.We went to Ottawa. After
checking into our motel, all
sixty-two of us, including our bus
driver, went to The Old Spaghetti
Factory for a deliciotis meal. We
then went to Parliament Hill 'where
three band, members- met and
talked to Bob McKinley, Conserva-
tive M.P. for Huron.
On Friday we played our two
final concerts at Sir Winiton
"Churchill Public School. Even
some of the teachers were up
'dancing and doing everything from
the waltz to the bump.
After 'an hour of free time in
downtown Ottawa, 'we were off to
Trois Rivieres. Some band
members feared they would starve
because of the language barrier
which proved to be a problem in
restaurants, but in most cases we
found the people of Quebec to be
very hospitable and patient with us.
Saturday was the day we 'had all
been a' bit nervous about. The
Lucknow Band is primarily a
concert band, but Satnrday we,
,,domireirroifilifittedmfortable shoes
and readied ourselves to march
three miles in the Lions Club
parade in Quebec City. The three
miles stretched into' five miles, but

thanks- to some members of the
local Lions Club, glasses of juice ,
and water were passed among us to
give us the strength to continue on.
On reaching the bus, shoes , were
quickly discarded and soon we
were leaving Quebec City. ,
It was 2.30 Sunday Morning
when our exhausted group stumbl-
ed into our Motel rooms ' in
Kingston. Although we were a bit
slowin getting moving Sunday, we
managed to get home at 5 p.m.
The band members would like to
take this opportunity to thank our
bus driver, Cee Garniss for being
so nice to us. We would also like to
thank all those who sponsored the
band in any way, whether. it was
through donations or attending our
concert.
We all had a wonderful time and
our experiences on this trip will
long be remembered. ' Every year
Mr. Cayley comes up with; bigger
and better plans for the band, so
we wonder what we will do next
year to top our 'Quebec adventure.
