International Plowing Match has
$12,000 in prize money donated for
Township , and County ,,Awards.
Entries are, now closed and a total
or 149 are competing for the
honours. The judging will be
completed in July. A banquet for
all the co4etitors will be held in
-Ripley in September..
The CoMmittee in charge, head-
ed by Burton. Hodgins and Jessie
Clark of Kincardine, emphasize the
importance of their Committee in
that after the big event is all over;
the mark of home improvenient will
remain. The Comniittee has used
the slogan "Spruce up Bruce" and
they urge everyone, urban or rural,
not only those involved in the
competition, to feel a part, of the
slogan. Many of the 150,000
visitors will be seeing Bruce fOr the
'first time. Removal of old cars, old
machinery and broken fenceS will
create a favourable image for the
County.
KINGSBRIDGE
This area Was, saddened to hear
of the sudden •passing of Raymond
Costello in St. Joseph's Hospital,
London on Tuesday, June 1, age 54
•years. Mr. Costello is, survived by
his wife,, a family of 13 children, 2
grandchildren, 4 sisters and 3 .
brothers. His body rested at the
John T. Donohue Funeral 'Home;
362 Waterloo Street at King Street,
London-until Friday morning whin
funeral•Mhss was celebrated at St.
Andrew'S the Apostle ,Friday
Church at 10 a.m. Interment was
in St. Peter's Cemetery. •
Sympathy is extended to Mrs.
Bill "Button of Lucknow on the
sudden passing of her husband at
his home on Tuesday, June 1 in his
52nd year. Funeral services were
held on Friday' at the MacKenzie
Memory Chapel, Lucknow with
interment in Greenhill CemeterY.
SCHOOL SHOWER HELD'
FOR NANCY ANDERSON
On Thursday, June 3 in St.
Joseph's Church hall, about 90
people attended a bridal shower
given in honour of Nancy Anden
son, a teacher at St. Joseph's
. School. Her, marriage to Greg Park
of Dungannon will take place on
Saturday, July 10. Mrs. Phyllis
Steffler acted as ehairlady. Rose-
mary Gilmore' of Lticknow did
Baton Twirling. Denise Connelly
danced 'two Scottish dances, the
Stapleton girls (Heather, Christine,
Mary Katherine, Maureen and
Patricia) of St. Augustine sang
"He's Got the Whole World . in His
Hands". Mrs. Kathy Leddy gave a
reading. Mrs. Barbara Eedy and
Mrs. Melba Park escorted Nancy to
decorated chairs and' Mrs. Maithel
Wilson read the address to Nancy.
Gifts were carried in by the little
boys and girls present. Nancy
thanked everyone for coming and
for the useft4 gifts. An invitation
was given to her trousseau tea to be'
held on Saturday, July . 3 at her
parent's home in Auburn. A dainty
lunch was served. •
Vincent Austin was admitted to
the Alexandra Marine and General
Hospital, Goderich on Tuesday,
June 1. Mrs. Wilfred Austin
was admitted to the same
hospital on Friday, June 4. We
wish both these people a. quick
return to health. •
Michael O'Neill, Jim O'Neill and
Leonard O'Loughlin attended the
funeral of their cousin, RaymOnd
Costello in London on Friday, June
4 and visited with Thomas O'Neill,
-a, patient in Victoria Hospital.
Hector Tigert of Port Albert was
admitted to the Alexandra Marine
and General Hospital, Goderich on
Saturday, , June .5. His many
friends wish him a speedy recov- '
ery. •• .
Shawn Dalton, son of Mrs. Mark
Dalton and the late Mark Dalton
returned by motorcycle for employ-
ment in Calgary, Alb,erta on
Friday, June 4.
Mrs. Ormand Heffernan, 'who
has been a patient in the Wingham
and District General Hospital for,
approximately 3 1/2 weeks, was able
to return to her home here on
Tuesday, June 1.
