Mrs. Bruce Raynard has been
working hard these last few days by
trying to visit all the households in
the area. She is the representative
of Statistics Canada who ./is
gathering information for the' 1976
Census.

A new trailer home was erected
in the village on Friday. This will
be'a home for Bob McGillivray and
Debbie Errington following their
marriage later this summer. They
had been,working at the site for the
last couple of weekends preparing
for 4tie trailer's delivery.
Deepest sympathy goes out to
Mr.•and Mrs: Gordon MacPherson
on the passing 'of their grandson,
Gordon Black.. Gordon was a
former. St. Helens resident who
visited quite often in the area.
Sympathy is also expressed .to Mrs.
Margaret Black and Gordon's

Wm. Marshall Gibson 'of Luck-
now pased away, on Wednesday;
May 26 at Pinecrest Manor Nursing
Home following a lengthy illness,
He was 73 and been a resident
at Pinecrest Manor for the past four
years. . •
He was' born at Chilliwack,
British Columbia pn April 27, 1903;
a son of George Gibson and
Catherine Webster. The family
came ,east to Ontario in 1909 and
settled on the farm in Ashfield
Township now owned by. Mr.
Gibson's son Donald, and where
they attended Zion School..
The late Mr. Gibson was a
lifetime farmer on the 12th
concession of Ashfield Township,
in the Zion area, until retiring in
1969 when they moved to Lucknow.
He served: for a number of years on
the Ashfield Public School Board '
and the Ashfield Council.
He is survived by his wife, the
former Grace Young of. Dungan-
non, whom he married on Decem-
ber 17, 1132; three daughters and
four sons, Mrs. Norman (Phyllis)
Rivett 'of St.. Marys, Mrs. , Donald
(Shirley) Smith of London, Mrs.
George (Beatrice) Madge of Water-
loo, Wm. of. Whitecliurch, Allan,
Donald and James, all of Ashfield;.
19 grandchildren and two brothers,
Samual of Lticknow, and Earl of
Bolton.
He was predeceased by his
parents, two sisters Katherine
Webb of British Columbia and
Stisan Gibson of Lucknow and, four
brothers John of Clinton, Beattie of
Detroit, James of Agassiz,. B.C.
and George of Ashfield Township:
The funeral service was held on
Friday, 'May 28 at MacKenzie .
Memorial Chapel, Lucknow. Rev.
Doug Kaufman of Lucknow United
Church was minister.
Pallbearers were Brian Rivett,
Ernie Gibson, Fred, Gibson, Harold
Gibson, Harvey Congram, Tom
Young. .
Flower bearers were seven .
grandsons, Steven Smith, Wayne'
Smith, Billy. Gibson, Greg Gibson,
David Gibson, Glen Gibson, Brian
Gibson.
Interment was at Greenhill
Cemetery. ,
Debra and Steve, and Bob McGil-
livray visited on the weekend with
Mr. and Mrs. Norris Wilson of
Stoney' Creek and. Claude Haugh-
ton of Freelton.
Mr., and Mrs. Ivan McQuillin,
Andrea and David accompanied by
Allison and Shannon Heit, all of
Kitchener visited last weekend
with the' former's mother, Mrs.
Fred McQuillin.
Ball Meeting
Plans For Summer
A'meeting was held at Brookside
School on May 20th to organize
baseball teams for the summer
season. There was a good
representation from all the com-
munities at ,this meeting. Walter
'(Perky) 'Arnold chaired the meet-
ing. If a good number of players
are interested there will be the
following teams:
Boys, 8 .- 11' Years old, Westfield,
Port Albert, North Ashfield, Kings-
bridge.
Boy's, 12 - 16 years old; Lucknow
(2 teams); Westfield, Port Albert,
Kingsbridge, North Ashfield, Dun-
gannon, West „VVawatioshk.
Girls., 11' years and up, Port
Albert, West VVawanosh, Ashfield,
West Huron Jr. Farmers.
Men's Slow Pitch, 16 years and
over, Lucknow Kinsmen, Kings-
bridge, Belfast, West Huron Jr.

varied program. A male quartette
consisted, of Austin Loree, Cyril
Brown, Dale Haldenby and Norm-
an Taylor. A mixed quartette
consisted,of Mr. and Mrs. Murray
Martin and Mr. and. Mrs. Laverne
Martin who are members of. the
Dungannon Christian' Fellowship.
Also a teen-age quartette was
formed by Rosely Ritskes, Lois
Fex, Joanne Martin and Jerry
Ritskes. •
Trios were sung by Grace, Ruth
and Nancy Alton 'of the Lucknow
United Church and Mrs. Don Bell,
Mrs. Jack Forster, Mrs. Allan
MacDougall of the South, Kinloss
Presbyterian Church.
Rosemary and Ken de Boer
favoured with two duets and John
Siecker Of- the Lucknow Anglican
Church presented a solo.
Lunch was served to the gather-
ing after the program.

Died Suddenly
At Purple Grove
JOHN CALVIN ROBERTSON
John Calvin Robertson, eldest
Son of the late James Robertson
and Martha Elizabeth, Campbell of
concession 12, Huron Township,
passed away suddenly at his
residence, concession 12, Kinloss
Township, on Sunday, May 23, in
his 66th year. BOrn April 9th, 1911,
he had spent all his life in :the ,
Purple Grove area where he farmed
until retiring several years:ago. Of
a kindly dispoSition, he was a loyal
friend to all, and will be missed in
the 'community where he gave
willingly of his musical talent while
health permitted.
Surviving are three SiSters,
Margaret' of Lucknovv; Martha,
Mrs. Goldwin Huston of Ripley;
Dorothy, Mrs. Russell Collins of
Huron ToWnship; two brothers,
Kenneth of. Kincardine Township
.and Donald of Huron. Township,
also, several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents
and one sister; Mary Rosella.
Funeral services were conducted
On, Tuesday,., May 25th, at ,the
McLenna-McCreath Funeral
Home, Ripley, by his pastor, 'Rev.
Gerald Thompson of Kiplough •
PresFyterian Church.
Pallbearers were Walter Collins,
Victor. Gawley, Bert ThompSon,
Donald. Dore, Joe Emerson and
Ivan McFarlan.
Flower bearers were Roy Collins,
Arthur Collins, Gayle Haldenby,
John Taylor, Norval Stanley and
Stewart.'Lane. _
Interment was in-the family plot,
Ripley Cemetery.
