AGRICULTURAL MEETING.
The Dungannon Agricultural
',Society held its monthly meeting on
Wednesday in the Agricultural
Hall. The Ashfield Recreation
Society sent a delegation to request
permission to install lights on the
ball diamond. Permission was
granted to install the lights at the
expense 'of the Recreation Society
When a satisfactory lease agree-
ment can be worked out for both
sides.. A water heater for the hall
has been donated by Rod MacKen-
zie and a sink by Mrs. Don
Nicholson. It was decided to rent •
the• hall at lower rates during
summer months when no heat is
required.

successful, auction sale held in

for Mr. and Mrs. Aubrey Higgins.'

The house and property was
purchased by Mr. and Mrs. Ron,
Hamilton. Mrs. Hamilton is' the
former Betty Jean Berry, sister to
Bill Berry of Kingsbridge.
Mr. and Mrs. Aubrey Higgins,
Pinecrest Manor, Lucknew dined
with Mr. and Mrs. Leonard
Chisholm on Tuesday.
Mrs. Chisholm's nephew, Leon-
ard Payne, who has just finished a
4-year course at University in
Waterloo,' visited • the Chisholnes
on the weekend. He has secured
employment' in Ottawa.
Mrs. Wm. Petrie of Goderich,
formerly of the 6th concession •
Ashfield, took ill on Monday and
was taken to Goderich Hospital.
She was, much improved later in the
week.

visited on Sunday with Mr.. and
Mrs. Howard Godfrey and family.
Mrs. Lois Tebbutt and her grade
5 class, accompanied by' MrS. •Mary
Bere took a bus trip to Collingwoocl
on Wqdnesday and saw the Scenic
Caves and the Blue Mountain
Pottery making.
'Miss Hortense Happel, assisted
by Miss Vianne Trezise took her
grade 7 class to Camp Menesetung
on Tuesday for an overnight
camping session.' They were back
at I3rookside on Wednesday p.m. in
time to get home On tit*. regular
buses.
Mrs. Chas. Fowler has been in
hospital the past couple of Weeks
with an angina condition.
Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Snider,
Colin ' and Cathy, attended a
McDougall family reunion and
shower near Listowel on Sunday.
Miss Beryl Elliott and Mrs.
Nancy Hamilton visited Mr. and
Mrs. Gordon Anderson and other
relatives and friends in this area
last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Webster
visited Mr. and Mrs. Ken Thomas
and girls , in Willowdale •last
'weekend.
Mrs. John Kilpatrick of Luckrrow
accompanied Mrs. Cecil Blake last'
week to East Tawas, Michigan to
visit the latter's uncle, Mr. Eugene
Hanson, who inquired' for his many
friends here.
Mr. and Mrs. Grant Sowerby,'
Mrs. Bernard. Koster; Karen and
Beverley of Westhill visited on the
'weekend with 'Mts. tea-Blake and
with Mr. and, Mrs. Sowerby near
Goderich. f •

BRIDAL SHOWER '
A community bridal shower was
held in the United Church base-
ment on Tuesday evening, in
honour Of Miss Karen Rivett,
bride-td-be. Mrs. Art McMichael
played the people'were
gathering and when she started the
wedding march Karen was invited
to' her specially decorated chair at
the front where she was assisted by
,her sister, Shelley Rivett and her
cousin, Faye Dustow. Cathy Snider
carried in • the gifts. Karen
graciously thanked those present

FIELD DAY
Field Day was held at Brookside
School on Friday. The" weather
co-operated with a beautiful day
but many Were sporting sunburns
by. the the time • it was over. The
