Mr. ,and Mrs. Jack 4 Jordan of
Lucknow held a successful' auction
sale 'May 15 and arrow residing
in the Senior Citizen Apartments in
Brussels. They had been residents
of Lucknow for almost twenty
years, coming here from the
Brussels area. Mr. and Mrs. Jim
Arnold purchased their Lucknow
property and moved in last week.

Mr. and Mrs. Ben Comfort of St.
Catharines spotted a bear near
their summer home. on ,the '6th '
concession of Ashfield. On the
farm was' a reforested acreage with
a creek ,flowing near the house.
The big fellow was sighted ambling
along the river • bank. Others
reported seeing bear tracks.
As if it wasn't hectic enough at

approached, a skunk invaded the
basement one Tuesday afternoon
and added to the trials, not to
mention the "upturned noses" of
customers who ventured into the
office. •
Twelve lambs from five ewes
were reported on a farm in West
Wawanosh. Two ewes had triplets
and three had twins. All were
thriving and not a small one in the
flock.

The . National 'Farmers Union,
held a. meeting at Mahon on
Tuesday, May 18 . to discuss tbe,
serious financial crisis facing maps_
industrial milk producers in Ontar-
Walter Miller, N.F.U. vice
president, said the meeting decid-
ed that the N.F.U. should call on
the Ontario Government to assist
pioducers with an adjustment
payment equal to the federal export
levy, which' is $1:.35 pier cwt.
• Mr. Miller said the meeting Was
attended by 75 representatives, of
N.F.U. locals and districts who
agreed the Ontario Government
lias a distinct responsibility in light
of its 'role of encouraging produc-
tion .through' incentive programs. A
Farmers.. were led to believe
there would be ample market for
their increased production, and
now are faced with a heavy
increased debt load, 'and a 'cutback
in production.
A meeting by N.F.U. officials•
will be sought with Agriculture
Minister Wm. Newman as early as
possible. The situation is urgent
and farmers 'are anxious for an
early response.
