Thompson, publisher - The Lucknow Girl' Guides and Brownies held their annual mother- daughter banquet at the LucknOw United Church on Thursday even- ing, May 20, Mrs, Bruce' Raynard, chairman of the Parents' Commit- tee welcomed everyone. 0 Canada was sung, accompanied by Rosalea Cameron on the piane, followed by a .Toast to the Queen. Everyone sang "The World Hunger Grace" accompanied by 'Marian. Raynard on the •piano. . Following •the meal Mrs. • Rayn- ard introduced the following head table guests, Mrs. A. E. McKim of Lucknow; Mrs.. Angus MacLennan of Goderioh, Commissioner for Beaver Division; Mrs. Jack McKim of Lucknow, Commissioner for Maitee District;. Thanks was extended to Mrs. Barry McDonagh for the decorat- ing. , Mrs. 'Don Cameron, secretary- treasurer of the Parents' Commit- tee,, read the minutes of last 'year's banquet and gave the financial report. The Busy Buddies of Lucknow donated $50 towards Guide and Brownie work. Mrs. Bruce Hamilton reported on the recent sale of cookies. 'Mrs. Evans Helm reported on badges ordered. A 'questionnaire was given• to the mothers' to express their opinions for fund raising next year. Mrs. Jack McKim introduced Carolyn Haroldson who ' .showed slides she, took in'Belgium while. attending a Girl Guide Camp there. This, camp was held to mark 50 years of ,Guiding in Belgium. • Carolyn was one time a ,Girl Guide in. Africa while her parents were living there, Mrs. Harold Greer thanked Carolyn and presented her with a gift. Sharon Struthers "walked up" to Guides and was welcomed by her new patrol leader Edith Greer. Rosalea is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Don Cameron of Lucknow and Sharon is'the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Struthers of Lucknow. The Girl Guide leaders presented the following badges. Edith,' 14-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Greer of Lucknow was presented with her Cord by Mrs. Jack McKim. The three girls each replied after receiving their Cords.. The evening closed with Brownie and Guide Taps. Organize Area Softball Leagues K1NGSBRIDGE NEWS • Approximately 20 softballJans interested in organizing softball, slow pitch, or a girls softball league attended an organization meeting held in the Brookside School on Thursday, May 20 at 8.30 p.m. The 'chairman for the 'meeting . was Walter Arnold. Interest was shown in forming the following teams: Softball: boys age 8 to 12, convener, Donald McKenzie. Four teams wishing to play in this group were from • , Kingsbridge, Port Albert, "North Ashfield and West- field. Boys 12 to 16, convener Russell Swan.
