near Ripley's. main intersection.

East Saturday morning a' number
of cyclists taking part in the
Kincardine Minor lacrosse bike-a-
thon came in the fifteenth, rounded
Ripley's Main corner and headed
west to Pine River. They started
from the fair grounds - Connaught
Park in Kincardine and from there
up the hill and out east on Highway
9 to the fifteenth corner: It was a
nice morning for their long trip -
about /20•miles, over to . Ripley and
back.
First cousin of Mrs. E. 0 (Elsie)
Forrester of Malcolm Street in
Ripley, Dr. Geoffrey Parke-Taylor;
dean of theology at' Huron College
in London, was elected on the
fourth , ballot, the second bishop
suffragan for the Huron' Diocese.
The election was held' last week in
St. Paul's Cathedral in London.
Dr. Parke-Taylor was pictured with
the accompanying news article in
the Tuesday. edition (May 11) of the
London Free Press. -
Mr. and. Mrs. Muttay Weber and
Tim of Malcolm Street in Ripley
returned home last Friday after a'
few days in Kitchener.

Home to Ripley for, the past
weekend from Kincardine hospital
was Mrs. Isobel Love. Mrs. Love
has been there for treatment' for the
past few weeks.
Last Saturday afternoon the
wedding of Miss Margie Collins,
daughter of Burton and Katherine
Collins of Purple Grove,. and David
William Lochhead of Stoney Creek,
was held in St. Andrew's United
Church in Ripley.
Last weekend Mr. and Mrs.
`Harold Wyld of Weston visited
with his mother, Mrs. Minnie Wyld
at' the 'Ripley Senior Citizens
apartments.

William Robertson of Agincourt
visited with his brother Bobby
Robertson and called on friends in /
the area during the -past `weekend.

It' was nice. to see the horse
•trailers again passing .through
Ripley. Just about the time of the
Preakness last Saturday the trailers'
of Mac Pollard and of F. D.
MacLennan were noted headed
north, presuma for Hanover.

during the •week. They made their
headquarters.. with; Currie. Colwell,
Anpe and. Betty at South Kinlos,s.
They attended a Cotwell 'family
reunion picnic at Purple Grove,
Community Centre on Sunday.
About 75 relatives gathered for .a
o'cloelc dinner to meet the
folks. They will continue visiting
with kin folks this week before
leaving for the East Coast.

and her husband, Mr. and Mrs,
Hector Knight of Picton, for the

Sympathy of Ripley and Huron
folks is extended to the,tnembers of
the Finlaysen family and relatives
at this time of bereavement. The
funeral service for Orville. Finlay-
son was' conducted by Rev. Cecil
Carnochan of St. Andrew's Church
at the MacLennan-MeCreath Fun-
eral Home last Friday afternoon
with interment in Ripley Cemetery,,
Orville passed away on Tuesday,
May 11, in ,the University. Hospital
in London in his 73rd year. He, was
born in Huron Township on
January 11, 1904.
Surviving are his wife, the.
former Verna Hooey, and three
daughters, Virene, Mrs. Alvin
Thompson • of Kincardine Town-
ship; Oral, Mrs. Murray Cameron
of Weston; and Marilyn, Mrs.
Robert. Johnston of Ripley, and ten °
grandchildren.
It was just a few months since
Orville and Verna Finlayson left the
fourth concession east in Huron
the former Breckenridge farm, and
moved 'into their new home in
Ripley..

dinner at their home• to Mark. their
35th wedding anniversary.' The
actual date is May 24th. .

During, the afternoon brothers
and sisters of Freda, and their
dropped in with..- the
exception of Lloyd 'of Chatham who •
was unable to• be present due to
illness. Also present were Mr. and
Mrs. Charlie Sheerer of Ethel. Two
'brothers Bill and. Jim Broome and
their wife called in the evening.

in the basement ofTrinity Church.

Is Electrocuted
On Town Job
A 32-year-old Kincardine father'
of two died Tuesday Morning of last
week as the result of accidentally
touching a 2400 volt' primary
conductor.. 4
Elmer Percy,•32, was pronoiinc-
ed dead in kincardine and District,
General Hospital .after he • was
rushed there by ambulance from
the, scene of the accident.

An 'employee of The Kincardine'
Public Utilities Commission, Mr.
Percy was installing a new conduct-
or on the cross arm of a Hydro pole'
on Russel Street near the Anglican
Church when the' accident occur-
red. •
Shortly after 10 a.m,, he
apparently touched the live 2400
volt primary conductor while work-
ing from the bucket of the PUC
truck, Hartley Watson, PUC' man-
ager said.
Mr. Percy leaves behind his wife
Sharon, two daughters, Cindy 7
and Judy 5, and his parents George
and Hazel Percy, also 'of Kincard-
ine. Mr. and Mrs. George Percy
are former Holyrood residents
