The last surviving member of a
fancily of ten, Benjamin, David
McClenaghan of RR. 5, LucknOw,
(Whitechurc.h) died in the Wing
ham. and District: Hospital on.
Sunday, May 9,, following a brief
illness. He was. in-his 91st year.

Lucknow Women's institute held
their' o regular.. meeting in the
assembly room in the, town hall en
Monday evening, May .10th, The
hostess, Mr's. George Kennedy and.
committee Mrs. Walter Alton,
Mrs. Ruth Helm and Mrs. Spence
Irwin had a lovely dessert prepared
which was enjoyed after singing
the Institute Grace. There was 23
members present.' Mrs. A. J.
Wilson welcOmed all and the
meeting was opened• with the Ode . •
and Mary Stewart .
- The correspondence, • minutes
and treasurer's report were given
by Mrs. Bert Gammie, secretary-
treasurer, and business was dealt
with. A pinute!s silence was
observed in memory of Mrs., Earl
McDonald who had passed away
and a thank you card read from the
McDonald family. '
Mrs. George Kennedy and Mrs.
Grace Campbell are to be delegates
to the district annual to .be held at
Whitechurch on- Tuesday, May
18th. The cheerio report was given
by Mrs. Jim McNaughton.
Mrs. Omar Brooks and Mrs.
Grace Campbells reported a very
enjoyable day at the tea at Brticelea
Haven on. Thursday,, May 6th,.
A picnic and bus trip' was
discussed and a committee ap-
pointed to arrange a picnic in June.
Catering to a banquet on Saturday,
June 5th was , 'discussed and

honouring mothers.' I '
Mrs. Jack Collinson was in
charge of a handicraft display and
gave' an .article on "The old
fashioned quilting bee", the first
assembly line.' Mrs.. Phillip
Stewart gave a good reading
"Mother's Love" and Mrs. How-
ard Barger gave Current Events.
Mrs. A. J. Wilson gave the
report of 'the officers' convention
held in. Waterloo University which
she had attended as a delegate.
The theme of the convention was
"The faculty to communicate orally
and visually". Mrs. George
Kennedy thanked all who had
helped with the meeting and the
meeting closed with the Royal
Anthem. •

Hospitalized After
Farm Accident

Neil MacKenzie met with a
serious accident on Saturday when
a jack he was using in repairing a
beam in the barn slipped. Neil
suffered leg and back injuries and
is a patient in hospital in Wingham.
Russell Moncrief, who attends
Ontario Veterinary College in
Guelph,is spending the summer at
home with his parents Mr. 'and
Mrs. George Moncrief. Mr. and
Mrs. Wayne Hunter and children
of Londbn were home with the
Moncriefs on Mother's Day.
Among those receiving provinc-
ial honours on Saturday at the 4-H
achievement day' held in Ripley
School was Donna Elphick, having
contpleted twelve projects.
Misses Lynn and Annette Elph-
ick were chosen as' the representa-
tives of their 441 club to do the
commentary for, achievement day '
in Ripley.
Mother's Day visitors with Mr.
and Mrs. Warren Wylds were Miss
Linda Wylds of London and Mrs.
Alfred Stone of St. Marys.
Sunday. School has been resumed
again at Ashfie,ld Presbyterian
Church after the winter holiday
months.
Mr. and Mrs.. Rod Finlayson
have been at the Gordon Finlayson
farm where they are looking after
the seeding operations.
Visitors with Mr. and Mrs.
Oliver /McCharles were Mr. and
Mrs. Donald McCharles and family
of Chatham and John McCharles of
Petrolia. Allan McCharles is a
patient in hospital in. Montreal -
following surgery.
Mr. McClenaghani was born
and lived all his life in, Kinloss
L. Township, Bruce County. He
attended school' in Whitechurch
and farmed nail about' .20 yearS
ago when his home farm was
taken over by his son, Carl. A don
of the late James McClenaghan
and Susan Baker, he was pre-
deceased by his five brothers,
Robert, William, Harry, George
and' James; and four sisters,
Mrs. Robert (Mary) Dobbie,
Mrs. John (Adeline) Ross, Mrs.
Ed (Susan) Pelton and Mrs. Herb
(Ona) Laidlaw. -
He is survived by his wife, the
form Mary CarolinnBarbour of
West Wawanosh, whom he
married in Bluevale on June 16,
1915; three' sons, Melvin of`
Waterloo, Irwin of St. Thomas
and Carla at home; and four
daughters, Mrs. Harry (Lorna)
Moss of, Plattsville, Mrs. Bruce
(Doris) Coleman of Nanaimo,
B.C. Mrs. Eileen Parker of
Exeter and Mrs. James (Faye)
McIntyre of Val Caron, Ontario. .
There are 22 grandchildren, ten
great grandchildren and one
great great grandchild. •
The late Mr. McClentighan
rested at the R. A. Currie and Son
Funeral Home until yesterday
(Wednesday) at two o'clock when
service. was conducted, by Rev.
Wilena Brown of Whitechurch
United Church where the de-
ceased was a, member. Interment
followed in Wingham Cemetery.
.Pallbearers and flowerbearers
were grandsons. Ben Moss,
Michael McClenaghan, Richard.
McClenaghan, DOuglas Parker,

David Parker and Alan McIntire
bore their grandfather to the,
grave and John Parker, Don
Moss, Jim Parker and Ron
McClenaghan carried his floral
tributes.

spent two days last week with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert
BongertMan.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Young and
family and Ken Young attended
the band concert in Lucknow
Saturday evening. Marty Young is
a member of the band' and Karen is
a member of the junior band.
Special music' at Langside Pres-
byterian Church on Sunday was
two numbers by a quartette, Helen
Weirsma, Nancy de Boer, JOhn
Koob and John de Boer.

Young Peoples held their regular
meeting at Langside Church on
Sunday evening.
The Langside Ladies' Aid held
their first meeting 'for the summer
at the home of • Mrs. Visser
Thursday evening. The next
meeting will be held at the home of
Mrs. de Boer on Wednesday
evening, June 9th.
