Another season of softball has
started and the first game was on

performed on .the ears in the
Wingham and District Hospital on
Wednesday, May 12.
Approximately 20 ladies enjoyed
a Tupperware Party at the home of
Mrs. Marlene MacDonald PR
Tuesday evening, May 11: Barbara
Snowden, of R, R..2 Lucknow
conducted several • games and
demonstrated the different piece's
of Tupperware. Lunch was served
by the hostess.

League and Mrs. Bernarchne
Kinney, attended the annual Cath-
olic. Women's League Diocesan
convention held at the Canterbury
Inn, Sarnia on Tuesday and
Wednesday, May 11 and. 12.

Mrs. Bernardine Kinney visited
with friends in Detroit, Michigan
following the, Catholic Women's
League convention' in Sarnia,
returning to 'her home here on
Monday evening, May 17.
Plans are being completed for a
Pork Barbecue to be , held on'
Saturday in' celebration, of the 10
year,reunion of St. Joseph's School
at Kingsbridge. 'A dance will,
follow the dinner 'in the school's
gymnasium, and a program will be
presented in the school on Sunday
afternoon.
Swimming registration will take
place at Kingsbridge on Saturday,
May 29 from 2 to 4 o'clock for
Elementary and Secondary child-
ren who wish •to take part in
swimming instructions " at the
Lucknow Swimming Pool on Mon-,
days to Fridays from July 5 to July
30. Pickups by bus*will be at
Brookside, D'ungannon, Nile, Shep-
pardton, Port Albert Anglican
Church, Kingsbridge, Kintail Store
and North Ashfield.
Hydro and telephone services
were interrupted following the
severe thunder storm and torrential
rains on *unday evening. Freshly
• planted fields and gardens, as well`
as basements, were flooded.

Died Suddenly
From Heart. Attack
RONALD JAMES REID
Ronald J.. Reid, in his 35th year,
of R. R. 5 Stratford, died suddenly
early Saturday morning, May '1st of
a heart attack at his home.
He was born in Wingham
'Hospital and. the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Jim Reid, now residing in
.Blyth. ,
Ron attended Lucknow Public
School, later moving with his
parents to Kinloss, Port Elgin and
Kincardine.. While in Port Elgin he
played hockey and was a member
of the' Port Elgin ' Midgets when
they won the All-Ontario Cham-
pionship in 1957,
Ron had lived in the Mitchell,
Stratford area for the past 15 years
and • was an associate of ,The
Stratford Farm Equipment Com-
pany.and was coach of the Mitchell
Bantam hockey' team.
Mr. 'Reid is survived by his wife,
Nancy Coleman; his . parents and
one' brother Donald of London.
One of the largest funerals was
Monday, May 3rd at the Heath-
Leslie Funeral Home in Mitchell,
:with Members of his hockey team
serving as pallbearers and• flower
bearers. Burial took place in the
Reid's family plot in Greenhill
Cemetery, Lticknow.

On Thursday, May 9th, the
Huron Country Players put on a
play for the school. It :was very
entertaining and funny. We hope

Bob Hackett on the birth of a baby
boy in the Wingham and District
Hospital on Saturday, May 15.
Mrs: Ormand Heffernan was
admitted to the Intensive Care Unit •
of the Wingham and District
Hospital 'on Monday, May 10. We
wish her a speedy recovery. While '
in hospital, Mrs. Heffernan learned
of the death of her brother, Charles
Bilodeau in Montreal who died on
Wednesday, May 12. Sympathy is
extended to Mr. and Mrs. Heffer-
nan and families.
Area residents were saddened to
learn of the death of Jim White 'in'.
Warren, Michigan on Thursday:,
May .13. Mr. White was the
husband of the former Mary Perry,
daughter of Nick and Eva (Dren-
nan) Perry, formerly of Kings-
bridge. Funeral service 'was held
on Monday, May 17 in Warren,
Michigan. Mr. and. Mrs. 'Earl
Drennan attended the funeral.
