Mr.: Bert Eaton passed away •last
Thursday evening in •the Wingham
Hospital. He had made his home
for the past 55 years with the
Hamilton family.
Mr. and Mrs. Herb White of
Parkhead visited recently with Mr.
and Mrs. Oscar White.

Pied Suddenly
WILFRED L. SMITH
Wilfred Smith, 'a Goderich
resident,' died suddenly on Wed-
nesday, April 21st at Alexandra
Hospital. He' was, 76. ,
— He was born'at Mildmay on
February 21, 1900, a son of John
and Mary (Kloepher) Schmidt.
In 1915 ' Mr. Smith moved to
Lucknow, where • he -worked as a
butcher with Pete'Graf. In 1920 he
moved to Goderich and operated, 'a.
meat .market on Hamilton Street
until 1930 When he went to
Colborne Township where he
farmed. Following retirement in.
1964 he moved back to Goderich.
As a \ hobby Mr. Smith was a
life-long pigeon fancier.
. He is survived by his wife, .the
former Helen Chisholm, whom he
married on June 10, 1924; three
daughters and one son, Mrs. Fred
(Mary), Crawford of Ashfield Town-
ship; Mrs. Ralph (Audrey) Borsch-
ke of Leamington, John W. of
London, Mrs. Jack (Pauline) Mel-
ick of Goderich; eighteen grand-
children; also six sisters and one
brother, Mrs. Peter (Blanche) Graf
of Goderich, Mrs. Noah (Rilla.) Viau
of Cheboygan,'Michigan, Mrs:
Herb (Rose) Krumback of Harris-
vine, Miehigan, Mrs. Tom.(Betty)
McLaughlin of Detroit, Mrs. Wal-
ter (Marie)'Lambertus, Mrs. Jos.:•
eph (Gertie) Lehman and William,
all of Walkerton -
'Mr. Smith *was predeceased by
sisters NOra , and Susan, both of
Walkerton and brothers Alex and
Edward of Walkerton and Ben of
Goderich.
Funeral mass was 'celebrated at
11 a.m.. on Saturday, April 24th at
St. Peter's Church, Godeich 'by
Rev: Father R. • Moynahan.
Interment was in St. Peter's
Cemetery, Colborne "Township.
Pallbearers were Charles Craw-
ford, John Crawford, Bill Smith,
Steve Smith, Gus Borschke, Bruce
Melick, all grandsons of the
deceased. •

The 4-H Tuiti Fruities met on
KINGSBRIDGE
Miss Valerie Shackleton, daugh-
- ter. of Mr. and Mrs. Benson
Shackleton, is attending a, nine
'month hairdressing course held at
"The House of Coupal!" in
Waterloo. Valerie spent the
weekend at the home of her
parents.
Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Knoop
and members of their family spent
the weekend in Hamiltgn and
attended the wedding of their' son
Gerald on Saturday, May 1.
Mrs. Maureen Chilton of Moose
Factory is visiting at the home of
her parents Mr. and Mrs. Mark
Dalton and family.
A large crowd attended the Stag
held for Michael Courtney; son 'of
May 1st at 9.30 at the home of Mrs.
Leonard Clark. Meeting eight was
a work meeting when the girls
made their book covers and also
caught up on their fruit reports.
