The music was provided by "Drumlin" formerly "Cake". Everyone who was there enjoyed themselves. Our next dance will be the spring prom on May 21st. Hope to see you all, there. B.I.A. TABLE TENNIS On Saturday, April 24th our table tennis teams went to Kincardine High School to compete in a tournament. The schools involved were Bruce Peninsula, Wiarton, thesley, Kincardine and Ripley. The players. were Junior Girl's. singles - Laurie Coiling; Junior Girl's doubles - Donna Huber and Janice Farrell; Junior .Mixed. doub- les - Erroll Lunday and Denise Huber; Junior BOy's singles. - Robbie Sutton; Junior Boy's doub- les - Robert Regier and Glen Grubb; Senior Girl's sulkies - Barbara Grubb;5enior Girl's doubles - Nancy, arid Julie Mc- Guire; Senior Mixed doubles, Wray Thompson and Arlene Tranter;, Senior Boy's singles. HAVE WE GOT SPIRIT? You bet we do! And we proved it last week as we held our first spirit week. It was on the theme "Ripley Olympics ,1976". Our school was divided into 10 . countries. The participating countries were Saudi Arabia, 'India, Ireland, Scotland, Nigeria, Japan, Mexico, U.S.S.R., Texas, and Hawaii. We held Ripley Resident • Died At Age 66. • LEONARD TOUT Leonard Tout of Ripley passed away at Kincardine Hospital on Wednesday, April in his 67th year:' . He was the 'only son of the late .Frank Tout and .Matilda Smith and . was born in Huron Township on December 9th, 1909, On June 4th; 1934 he . married Evelyn Farrell who predeceased him in 1973. ' He is survived by one aunt, Mrs. Harry Elliott, *one uncle, James Smith and several' cousins. The funeral service was' held at the McCreath Funeral Home, ° Ripley,, Friday, April 23. Rev. John King of St. Lukes Anglican Church, Kincardine 'conducted the service with' interment in Kincardine Cemetery. Pallbearers were. Ray Fuller, Murdoch MacDonald, William R. Lowry, Howard Harrison, William Collins and Smith Lowry. Flower bearers were ,Robert Hardy, Johnny MacKay, John D. Munn and Art Matthewrnan. The occasion was the celebration of the 48th wedding anniversary of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Crowston of Lu,cknow. Mr. and Mrs. Crowston were honoured with a wedding dinner highlighted by a decorated anniversary cake. The family pres,ented Mr. and Mrs. Crowston with several gifts. Deanna Reavie read the minutes of the last meeting and gave the treasurer's report. Everyone present answer-' ed the roll call whiCh was "A . • beauty aid use and why I enjoy it". The spring meting will be held on April .24 at Foothill near Niagara Falls. s. The program was on Etiquette, Hair Styling and Make-Up.' Guest speakers were 'Mrs. Barry. McDon- agh for make-up, Mrs. Arnold Campbell for hair styling and Nancy Alton led in a quiz on etiquette which everyone enjoyed. A social hour .was held. competitions at noon hours. The competitions were high jump, 50 yard dash, relay, ball throw, tug a' war, and wrestling with a few variation's. The team that came in , first with points was Ireland. We wound up the spirit filled week with a sock hop on Friday put on by the Cheerleaders. The awards were given out at this dance. The best dressed team was Saudi Xrabia. After 'some hard decision, making, it was decided that Mike Gallant was the best dressed boy and Gail MacDonald was best dressed girl. This week went to show that Ripley really does have spirit! ELEMENTARY NEWS BASKETBALL Our congratulations are, extend- ed to the boys basketball team on their fine work Thursday, April 22 when they played against Lucknow. The score was 47-2 for the Ripley team. . Keep up the good work boys! , SEAT BELTS • On Friday, April 23 Constable Gaeler came to the school tb speak 'to us. He showed us a film about "The Human 'Collision" and ex- plained the seat belt law to us. He also explained the reasons for wearing seat belts and told how the government hopes to cut down the number of fatal accidents. EASTER DANCE We would like to thank Mrs.' Birnie and Mr. Richards, who were in charge of our Easter Dance on April 15. Eoin McKay was Master' of Ceremonies announcing the winners of the door prizes. The winners . were Shirley Cornish, Mary, Kempton, Brent Coiling, Mary Nicholson, (Cindy Des Jard- ine, Betty Jean MacLean, Larry Needham, Sandra Ludwig, ) 3radley Nixon and Prankie Pore. Our long weekend is- over ond everyone is returning refreshed and ready to mork.,
