Huron 'complex to see and hear the
first Blue Grass Music concert here
last Saturday' evening. In fact,
approximately 75 people were
turned away due• to the lack of
room. Leonard Courtney introduc-
ed Kelly Daum, now at Kitchener,
and formerly with the Wingham
station. Mr. Daum then explained
to the audience the characteristics
of Blue Grass. And from this point,
the Pine• River Valley. Boys from,
Kentucky entertained the crowd.
Another big night is scheduled for
May 8 when Harold Austin and .his
5 piece band will be at the complex.
Last June, Leonard Courtney and
his . wife Mildred attended the
String Bean Festival -held in
Charlotte in Michigan - in the
Lansing area and there for the first
time they saw the Pine River Valley
Boys as one• of several groups
taking part. Again in January, Mr.
and Mrs. Courtney attended a
function where these Boys were
entertaining. Here for the first
time, they asked them about
coming to Ripley.
Two weeks ago, Mr. and Mrs.
Courtney of Pine River here in
Ontario were .in Kitchener and
made the final arrangements for
the group to come here. Mr, and.
Mrs., 'Courtney are to be congratul-
ated on their efforts and that they
did this as their Contribution to the
Ripley Huron Complex building.,
People who have Jtad experience in
engaging popular big 'bands know
it is' indeed fortunate that the Pine
Rivet' Valley' Boys just happened to
have a "free date" for last
Saturday and Mr. and Mrs.
Courtney lost no time in engaging
them. On Sunday, they were back
to Kitchener and then back. to
