In fact, approximately 75 people were turned away due• to the lack of room. Leonard Courtney introduc- ed Kelly Daum, now at Kitchener, and formerly with the Wingham station. Mr. Daum then explained to the audience the characteristics of Blue Grass. And from this point, the Pine• River Valley. Boys from, Kentucky entertained the crowd. Another big night is scheduled for May 8 when Harold Austin and .his 5 piece band will be at the complex. Last June, Leonard Courtney and his . wife Mildred attended the String Bean Festival -held in Charlotte in Michigan - in the Lansing area and there for the first time they saw the Pine River Valley Boys as one• of several groups taking part. Again in January, Mr. and Mrs. Courtney attended a function where these Boys were entertaining. Here for the first time, they asked them about coming to Ripley. Two weeks ago, Mr. and Mrs. Courtney of Pine River here in Ontario were .in Kitchener and made the final arrangements for the group to come here. Mr, and. Mrs., 'Courtney are to be congratul- ated on their efforts and that they did this as their Contribution to the Ripley Huron Complex building., People who have Jtad experience in engaging popular big 'bands know it is' indeed fortunate that the Pine Rivet' Valley' Boys just happened to have a "free date" for last Saturday and Mr. and Mrs. Courtney lost no time in engaging them. Ripley folks are glad to welcome Adeline back again: Mrs. Martyn spent the winter in Fort Lauderdale. Florida. To comply with the Ontario Government's orders to close beds at - Kineardine . and District Hospital, several elderly patients have had to be transferred./ Orah , Crawford of Ripley; a patient there for several 'months, was moved to ,Princes Court, the former Kincard- ine Nursing Home and his wife Mrs. Marie Crawford has moved up .from their Ripley home to care • for him there.
