home of Mrs. Andrew Ritchie for•
their April meeting on Tuesday
_afternoon, April 6. Mrs. 'Chas.
MacDonald welcomed all and
opened the meeting with a poem
"Showers of April" followed by
prayer. The hymn Jesus -keep me
near the cross was-sung. The roll
calla was well answered with an
Easter verse by 18 present.
The treasurer's report was given
by Mrs. Andrew Ritchie. Mrs.
Eldon Henderson had a reading
"Only God Can Give a Friend" and
gave the , report on community
friendshifi. Mrs. -VVorden Howald
gave a reading on Christian and

On Tuesday, April 5 the ladies of
Unit 3 'of the Lucknow United
Church Women met at Pinecrest
Manor and presented a half hour
Easter program for the patients,
Mrs. Bert Alton was chairman and
Mrs. San) Gibson was pianist.
. Denise Helm and Heather Priest-
ap, dressed as bunny rabbits, e•
hopped around, among the patients
as "Here ,Comes. Peter Cottontail"
was sung. Walter Dexter' sang a
solo' "How Great Thou Art". Miss
Nancy Walden played four accord-
ian selections, Mr. 'Dexter played
mouth Organ selections and some
familiar hymns were enjoyed by the
patients. The program closed with
a parade of Easter hats -while
"Easter Parade", was sung.,
After the Easter program we met
at Mrs. Bert Alton's home. Mrs.
Alton opened the meeting with a
reading "Springtime". Psalm 742
was read responsively. Mrs.
Nelson Raynard gave the scripture
reading from Mark .14 and Mri.
Kirkland gave the meditation. A
general thanksgiving prayer , was
read in unison and all repeated the
Lord's prayer.
Fifteen members and one visitor
answered the roll' call with an
Easter verse. The Easter Thankof-
fering will be held on. April 13 at
8.00 p.m. and the Family Fun
Night on April 25. Mrs. Alton
closed the meeting with prayer and.
a dainty lunch was served. ----
Missionaries 'Safe.
Mrs. Glen Walden,, convener for
social functions,, gave the report of
the dinner on April'? 2nd and
thanked all who had helped or
taken food. The Thankoffering'
meeting is, to, be in the church on
Tuesday, April 13 at 8 o'clock.
Also 'we were reminded of the
Family Fun Night on Sunday, April
25th, starting with a pot luck
supper at 6.30.

devotional and opened with ant
Easter poem. She•then introduced
the devotional on Easter followed
by different, readers, . 1st reader
Mrs. Grace -Campbell, 2nd reader
Mrs. Walter Alton, 3rd reader Mrs.
Violet Mintz and 4th reader Mrs.
Marshall Gibson. The hymn Christ
the Lord is risen today was sung.
Mrs. Mintz gave a good reading
"Christ is Alive Today". Mrs.
Walter Alton gave a poem "At
Easter Time".
Mrs. Glen Walden gave a good
study. on China especially on the
education System in the People's
Republic of China, where 1/4 of the
world's population livein a country
,little bigger than Canada. Mrs..
Ron Alton, thanked all who had
taken part and closed the devoti0-
al ,with prayer. , I •
Mrs. Chas., MacDonald gave the
courtesy remarks and closed the ,
meeting by the singing of Rejoice
the Lord is King 'followed by
prayer. We were very pleased to
have. Stephen Atkinson, ° Paul
Finlay and Mark Abbot who came
after school to entertain with
trumpet selections. ' Grace_ was '
sung and the mizpah benediction
repeated, Lunch was served by the
hostess and committee.

6. Mrs. A. 3. Wilson opened the
meeting with a poem "Palm
Sunday" followed by the hymn
"Ride on, ride on in majesty".
The financial report was giVen by
the , treasurer. The members were '
reminded of the general meeting
on May 11,, Family Night April 25,
the Thankoffering on April 13. A committee Of four to present the
' devotions on April 13 volunteered.
Committee chairmen gave reports.
.The roll call was answered by 20
Members and 1 visitor. Mrs.,
Wilson thanked the hostess and the
members for attending.

,The hymn, Go to dark Gestheniane,
was sung. Mrs. George Joynt read
the scripture, St. Luke, chapter 22.
Mrs. Lloyd.• Hall gave the medita-
tion, a thought provoking corn- „
mentary on the painting of "Christ
in Gesthemane". Jesus the very
thought of Thee was sung followed
by-prayer by Mrs. Hall.
Mrs. Ross Shiells was introduced
and spoke on Spring; the time of
ResurrectiOn. Mrs. Shiells dealt on
the miracle of Spring which is given
by God - and we grumble. The
risen Christ only appeared to those
who were willing to receive Him
and left the thought that- each day-
can be a resurrection and give us
riew hope. If we keep faith with
Him we can have resurrection any'
day.'

Mrs. Thompsdn thanked all who
contributed to the program. 'The
program ended with a , poem and
benediction. A delicious' lunch •Was
served 'by the committee.
