,The .fourth meeting of Kairshea
Fruit Fans took plice Monday,
Marche 29. at 4.00 p.m. at the
Lucknow School.,,
The meeting was opened .with an'
'alphabet contest. Roll call was
taken, "One way to use dried
fruits",
Linda Verner read the minutes of
the last meeting. Marilyn and
Teresa Murray volunteered for
bookcovers. •
Dianne McBride and, Karen
13Q,elman made minted pear pie
while the others, played• a game
dealing' with cooking..
-Mrs. Ritchie talked , about plan-
ning menus, fruit for lunch and for
dessert; Mrs. MacIntyre talked
about, fruit for breakfast,
We closed , with the 4-H pledge.
-We ate a very tasty lunch of
oriental chicken, salad, rice ,and
pie. • -

The president Lori•Ann Jamieson
opened the, meeting with -the'.4-H
pledge. The minutes were read by
Kathy, Purdon. •
The roll call was'answered by the
.members' telling "The fruit' we.
freeze or can at home". Mrs.
Elliott and Kathy passed out
pamphlets on fruit. Lori Ann
passed out pamphlets on Achieve- •
ment Day, May 15 ,at RiPleys.
Kathy Purdon will demonstrate the
making of banana bread at the next
meeting.
Mrs.. Elliott demonstrated the
making of pastry and pies from 'a
recipe and a mix.
Mrs. Archie Purdon led in.. a
discussion on pastry, making fruit
pies, dinner menu. Each girl gave
a presentation ,on fruit. Kathy ,
Purdon gave a report on, how to
make a record book, helpful
permanent reference. Each girl
explained the menu given for home
assignment. In group work the
girls tasted pies and compared.
'The meeting closed with the 441
creed.
Zippy Trinettes
Meeting three of Zippy Trinettes
II was held at Mrs. Dona
Campbell's March' 29th. at 7.00
p . m . Sharon Alton,' our .vice
president, opened the meeting.
The roll call was, taken "What is
the colour harmony of your
Learning Stitches Article?" Donna
Hackett read the, minutes. The
next meeting will be at Mrs. Dona
Campbell's on April 5' at 7.00 p.m.
Mrs. Campbell discnssed the
"Back Stitch" and different uses,
,also how to create a design. The
girls' participated by taking.turns in
reading' in creating a design,
Miss Elva Ritchie demonStrated
how to enlarge-a design'and liow to
do Twisted Chain Stitches.
All members participated in
enlarging a design and learning
how to do the Twisted Chain Stitch.

DUNGANNON NEWS
The Dungannon 4-H „Dainty
Doodlers 5th meeting was held at
the home $f Mrs. Jean Errington
on Thursday, April 1; The roll call,
"What have you decided to make
for your free choice article"? was
answered by 12 members.
For discussion each member
read a paragraph about a historical
outline of embroidery from the,
leader's pamphlet. The leaders,
Mrs. Jean Errington and Mrs.
Donna Young helped the members
fill out the discussion sheet for
meeting 5. '
' The girls divided into two groups
for demonstration. The leaders
demonstrated how to ,do the sheaf
filler stitch and the satin stitch.
The , members practiced these
stitches 'on their sampler.
The next meeting 'is at the home
of Mrs. Donna Young on Thursday,
April 8 at 7.15 p.m.
Zippy Trinettes
The fourth meeting of the .Zippy
Trinettes, club number one, was
held at the home of Mrs., Cameron
on March 29 at 7 p.m. Eight
members repeated the 4-H pledge
followed by answering of the roll
call and'home assigrirnenis. Susan
IrVin read the, business minutes of
the last Meeting.
Mrs. Hackett discussed the
"Free Choice" article and designs
for. ithe "Free Choice" article,
Mrs. Cameron' discussed Uses for
the Twisted Chain. •
Mrs. Hackett demonstrated the
couching cross. stitch. Mrs.
Cameron demonstrated the couch- .
ing outline stitch.
All • then practiced ,both of
these new stitches.
The next meeting will be held at
7 p.m., April 5th at Mrs. Hackett's.
Kingsbridge 4-H"
The fifth meeting of, the Twisted
Chain Gang was held Monday
night, April 5 at the home of Mrs.
Delores Van Osch.
The leaders, Mrs. Van Osch and
Mrs. Riegling discussed the Hist-
ory of Enibroidery, ,then - they
demonstrated how to dO the ;satin
and sheaf filler stitches. We then
practiced on our samplers.
Designs for our Free Choice Article
were discussed and we, will have
them ready for our next meeting
which will be held Tuesday, April
13th at the home 'of Mrs. Helen
Riegling.

discussed the business.
Mrs. Leonard Clarke demonstra-
ted- how 'to make Oriental chicken.
It was delicious. Mrs. Keith told'
how 'we could' use fruit the daY"
around and showed how to make a
colourful , delicious fruit dish.
The next meeting will be at Mrs.
Clark's on Saturday, April 10th at
9.30 o'clock.

The March break is over and we

The fifth meeting of the Holy-
rood 4-H club met at the home of
Mrs. Gerald 'Rhody on. Saturday,
April 3rd at 2.00 p.m.
After opening with the pledge,
the roll call. 'was answered (all
member's present) with varieties'of
fruit that can be ' frozen,- canned,
dried and grown at hoMe. Then
, during the business session, the
exhibit for 'Achievement Day was
discussed.' It is to be a display of
fruit for all season.
Members are to bring a 'design
for the quilt patch to the next
meeting which will be at Mrs. Hank
Duiker's hotne on Friday, April '9th
at 4.30 p.m.
Two ways of making apple pie
were used in the activity' period.
First the traditional and second
with instant pastry' mix and canned
apple slices. Most preferred the
homemade. Each member partic-
ipated in the baking. The meeting
closed with the motto.

The Fruity Fruits held their 4th,
meeting on Saturday, April .3 at
Mrs.' Evan Keith's. They began

are all hard, 'at work again. On
Wednesday, March 31st, we rec-
eived our report cards. Some
people were happy to see them and
some people were not so, happy.
GRADE. THREE
When we came back from. our
holidays*, we found out that we had
a new pupil. Her name is Wendi
Ariss and, she, has moved' to Point
Clark.
• GRADE 5-6' - '
We , received a letter back from
Lillooet B.C. •We have pen pals
now and we are going to write back
. to them and send them a video tape
of our school.' A couple of boys got
o girls.names but I think we all like
who we got.
