Mrs., Doug. (Dixie) Cameron of
Ashfield Township will be repres,
enting Ontario Junior Farmers as
she heads for "down under" in •
1977. Dixie has been awarded the
Junior Farmer Travelling Scholar-
ship to Australia and New Zealand
sponsored by the Junior Farmers'
Association of • Ontario . and the
United Co-operatives of Ontario.
The announcement was made
March 20 at the Annual Banquet of
the Junior Farmers' Association of
Ontario. She •will go in January of
1977 and will be away about three
months, visiting farming commun-
ities and being billeted in both farni
and city homes. She will act as an '
ambassador from Ontarie Junior
Farmers.

$2,000 Grant
To Aid Local
History Project
Health and Welfare Minister
'Marc Lalonde today announced the
awarding of 'a New: Horizons ,grant
for $2,000 to a group of retired
people in Lucknow.
The award is part of $1,703,405
giVen to 245 groups of retired

The new 60-member Leo Club
held its presentation night Friday
and received its certificate of
organization.
Nile Barn Burns
A barn fire• about 2.30 p.m. on
Wednesday, ,Marcli 24, completely
destroyed the barn of Don Scott,
two miles west of Nile. The barn
was levelled' in about one hour.
Lost were •twelve head of cattle,
six pigs, a tractor, feed and grain.
Goderich Fire Department res-
ponded to the call.

Glenn Anderson, 16-Year-old son
of Mr. and Mit. Clayton Anderson,
R. R. 1 Dungannon, was seriously
injured in an accident involving his
motorcycle and •a car On the
Bayfield Road in front of Suncoast
Mall 'in Goderich on Saturday,
March'20.• •
He 'suffered severe fractures to
the left leg, necessitating amputa-,
tion below the knee on Thursday of
last week . and 'further surgery is
expected. He is in hospital in
London.

, Last week's 24 hour Skateithon
sponsored by the Lucknow Skating
Club attracted about 100 skaters
spanning a wide age'group in the
community.
Mrs. A, E. McKim, 84, was the
oldest of the skaters. Mrs. McKim
skated for one hour and was
sponsored for a total' of $26.50 by
various people in the community.

skated fois five hours and as one of
the Youngest entries in the event.

,of Jim and Margaret Wilson of
Locknow, was the very youngest
skater of the day. Jackie made the
roundS for two hours.
Friday night of last week was '
Presentation Night for the new
Lucknow and District Leo Club, a
youth group recently organized in
the community and .sponsored by
Lucknow and District Lions Club.
Highlight of the evening was the
presentation of the certificate of
organization by Art Helm, presid-
ent of the Lucknow' and District
Lions,' to Paul. Ackert of Holyrood,
president of the new Leo Club.'
Chairman of the evening was
Dougald Campbell of Elmira, Leo
chairman of District A-9 for ,this
year, Dougald is well knoWn in'the
area. He was raised in Kinloss and
attended Lucknow High School,
Following a Social hour by Leo
Members, their parents, friends,
Lions' and. ,,other -guests, the
banquet.opened by the singing: of
0 Canada, a toast to the Queen, the
invocation and Leo Grace.

Injured In
Car Collision
Arthur Clark, 11-year-old son 'of
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Clark of
kinloss, was hospitalized-last week
for two nights with concussion and
abrasions after coming • into colli-
sion with a .Car while playing
'hockey on the road with friends.
Arthur resides on the Kinloss
road 'running north from the train
station to South Kinloss Church,
The car, carrying five area young
