On Saturday, March 20th, fonr
gamei were played to complete the
house league hockey playoffs,
----. In the opening game the Black
Haws edged the Leafs 2 to 1 to
qualify for the' consolation finals..
David Atkinson and Terry ,,,Brown
tallied goals, with assists going to
Jim Young and David Hawkins.
Troy Ritchie replied for the Leafs.
with 'Shane Hickey picking up the
assist. Six minor penalties were
called in the first.-game.
In the second game the Red
Wings defeated the Rangers• 3 to 1
to gain a position in the champion-
ship -finals. Mark Haldenby
chnlked inp a pair with Mike
McI5O1 agh adding a single: Doug,
Edisbury was credited with 2
-assists. Gerrard Howard was the
lone mar mane the' Rangers.
Six minor penalties were assessed.
In the consolation match the
Black Hawks blanked the Canad-
lens 2 to 0, Allan Stanley notched a,
goal and an assist with Mark
Abbott adding a single. Brian
Arnold was credited with 2 assists.
Don Dorscht gained the shutout.%
Only one minor penalty was called.
Congratulations to the Black
Hawks on winning the consolation
trophy.
In the championship match the
Red Wings were pitted against the
Bruins. MI previous games this
year had ended in draws between
these two teams. The fans were
treated to a hard-fought battle. The
Bruins proved victorious 3 io 1 in a
penalty filled match. Sixteen minor
penalties were called with the
Bruins picking up 10. Kevin Clark,
Steve Frayne, and Rob Siecker
scored for the Bruins with Richard
Jurjens, Steve' Errington and Carl
Courtney gaining assists. Mark
Haldenby, from Doug F.disbury
was the scoring statistic for the
Red Wings. Congratulations to the
Bruins on winning the champion-
ship trophy.
On Wednesday, March .31st at 8
p.m., the all stars from this league
will play. The Black Hawks,
Canadiens and Leafs will battle the
Red Wings,, Rangers and Bruins.

Allan Stanley, Brian Arnold, Bobby
Hackett; Steve Atkinson and Jim
Hawthorne; for the Canadiens,
Allan McWhinney (goal), Hugh
Burgsma, 'Bernie Burgsma, . Bill
Foran, Jim Foran and Kevin
Lindsay; for the.. Leafs, Meikel
Becker, Art Simpson, Shane Hick-
ey, Troy Ritchie and Murray
Hickey. Walter Arnold, coach of
the Black Hawks, will guide This
group..
Opposing the above group for
the Red Wings will be Jerry Searle
(goal), Mike McDonagh, Tim
Edisbury, Eddie Husk, Mark
Haldenby and Wayne McDonagh.'
From the Rangers are Brian
Elphick, Peter Van Dyke, Stephen
Howard, David Van Osch • and
Morris Van Osch.
Mike Frayne (goal), Blair Alton,
Kevin- Clark, Richard Jurjens,
Kevin Machan and Mike Dennis
will represent - the Bruins. Bob
MacGillivray, coach' of the Bruins,
will be at the helm for this group.
Prior to this all star game, • all
boys, parents, coaches-and helpers
will enjoy an hour of -skating.
After the all star game, presenta • -
tions and lunch will take place at
the Legion Hall. Mothers are
asked to bring -cookies, squares or '
tarts for ‘dessert.

In Brookside
Intramural League
On Wednesday, March 17th, the
Brookside intramural hockey pro-
gram 'came , to° a close when the
Chargers dubbed the Wings 8 to 1
in the final match. In previous
games the Chargers had elintinated
the Tigers and the Wings had
ousted the Skaters.
Scoring statistics for the Charg-
ers were as follows: Alan Rivett • 2
goals, 1 assist; Paul Ambrose 2
goals; Gerald de Graaf. 1 goal, 1
assist; Allan McWhinney 1 goal, 2
assists; Duane Rivett 1 goal,' 1
assist; Brian Taylor 1 goal; Bernie
Burgsma 2 assists; Fred Martin 1
assist.
Barry Elphick 'scored an unas-
sisted goal for the Wings.
Congratulations, Mr. Granger, on
being selected as coach of the year!
A total of 38 girls 'were playing in
the intramural hockey program this
past winter from Brookside. The
Red Barons were declared the
winners on the number of wins
during the regular season's play.
