Kinloss Township
Council Minutes
The regular meeting of Kinloss ;,
Council was held March 1st at 7.30
p.m. with the Reeve and all Council
• present.
After' the minutes were adopted,
the tenders for gravel and heavy
machinery' were dealt With.
• Joe Kerr Ltd. was the successful
bidder on all tenders. The tender
for crushed gravel Was $1.49 per
eu, yard delivered on the Township
roads and 85c per. yard, for
stockpiling: This gravel to be on
the roads by September 1st. The
tender on pit run gravel for
construction was 47c per cu yard
for the the 1st mile and .05c for
each additional half mile.
Tender for bulldozer and scraper
was 530.00 per hour. A Motion was
Made that the road superintendent
attend the road school in Guelph in
May.
Council approved an application'
for severance on Lot 12, concession
The County weed inspector
Archie McCullough was appointed
inspector for Township of Kinloss.
Awapplication for a tile drainage
loan was accepted on Lot 2 and 3,
1st road South of Durham Road.
The following accounts were
ordered, paid: General, 3,720.19;
HighWays, 13,383.14.
A special meeting was held on
March 3rd. The • Reeve and all
Council except Walter Breckles

This meeting was held mainly 'to
discuss some complaints in connec-
tion with the, zoning by-law. /
Representatives from M. M.
Dillon Ltd. were present, as well as
Mac Canipbell, secretary of the
Bruce County' Planning Board and
representatives from. Bruce •County
School Board and' local member
Lloyd Ackert.
Council approved' severance for 2
lots on part of lot 10, concession 1;
Kinloss 'Township.
Applications will be called for
Warble Fly Inspector. Applicant to,
state salary expected and supply
own 2transportatioh. Applications
are to be in to clerk by March 17th
at 6 p.m. The meeting was•
adjourned until. March 17th 'or at
the call of 'the Reeve..

Radio Operators
Form Club
The first rneetingdof local Citizen
Band Radio Operators was held in
the Lucknow TOwn Hall on March
2nd to form an organization which
will be known as Club 11.
Twenty-three people were in
attendance with' hopefully more
turning out next' meeting. . .
The main goal is to inform each
other in the use and operation of a
C.B. radios assisting in emergenc-
ies of townspeople and of those•
around'the area. Those interested
are welcome.
THAT
A car belonging to Alfred
McWhinney of Lucknow was sev--
erely damaged by fire about 10.30
p.m. Thursday while parked in
front of 1 the residence of Ernie
Carter on the Lucknow-South
Kinloss Church road. The 72,
Oldsmobile was 'a complete loss.
Lucknow Fire Department respond-
ed.
lucknow Skating
Club News
Lucknow Skating Club placed
very well in the Interclub Skating
Competiton held Sunday at Howick
Community Centre. .16 clubs
competed.
John and Patti Barges placed
10th, Cathy Chisholm and Sandra
Irwin placed 14th and Cheryl and
Nancy-Haldenby placed 20th in the
Novice Dance. There were' 31
couples competed in this Dance..
Joan Hamilton placed 20th in a
class of 35 competitors in the
Junior Ladies Free Skate.
Monday night's skating class
was the last practise for the Juniors
for the. Achievement Night to 'be
held this 'Saturday, March 13.
(Further detail can be found in an
advertisement elsewhere in this
paper). The children were
reminded to have clean skates and
laces for 'Saturday night and they
were given their skirts; 'vests etc.
The Skating Club members are
still busy getting sponsors' for the
Skatethon which will be held.'
Wednesday and Thursday, March
24 and 25. The Skatethon starts at
10 a.m. on the Wednesday and
participants must •be registered,
dressed and ready to go on the ice
by 10 a.m. Sponsor sheets should
be turned in by March 19th to'
committee members Mrs. Bob
Struthers, Mrs. Art Gilmore or
Mrs. Barry McDonagh or to the.
schools. The skaters, have been
asked to phone a committee
member if the sheets can not be in
by the • 19th as food provisions have
to be made. Parents are making
sandwiches for Wednesday lunch.
BROWNIE
NEWS
Oh Tuesday, March 2nd, the
Brownies enjoyed a toboganning
party at the ball park hill.
After toboganning, the Brownies
went to Sharon StrutherS' home for
hot dogs, hot chocolate and
do-huts.

At Meetings Abroad
Visitors with Mr. and Mr's. W. F.
MacDonald in Lucknow over the
week end •were Miss Margaret
MacDonald of Sarnia and Dr. and
Mrs. John M. MacDonald and
family, also of Sarnia.
Mack, as he is better known in
the area, has been doing research
work fora number of years with the •
Imperial Oil Company of Sarnia
and recently retuned from a trip to
France and England where he

Mack and one other person' were
ehosen by the Imperial Oil Comp-
any of Sarnia to represent Canada.
Two meetings were held , in
Oxford, England and the other
meetings were held in a little „town
called Roeun, outside Paris. It was
here, many years ago, that Joan of
Arc was executed and where her
monument still stands.
