Miss Ada •Webster. Mrs. Gordon
Kirkland gave •an Irish reading,
"The Courtship of Larry O'Due.
What ,a friend we have in Jesus was
Sting and 'the meeting closed with
the mizpah benediction.
Mrs. Alton had an Irish contest
and Mrs. Johnson, Mrs. Gibson
and Miss Ada Webster served

On Fric143r, February f7, the
Grade 5-6 class went to InVerhuron
Park. We had plattned to :go
snow-shoeing but we found out that
the snow might ruin the snow
shoes. At Inverhuroti Park we r9 et

or: We hiked along a trail watching
fol. animals and animal tracks. We
reached
ajohg the, trail until we
the lake's shore. We
climbed. up on the rocks and
studied' them for awhile. Then 'we
went and cooked our dinner on the
burners we had made. We went
back to the lake shore and walked
up and down it , looking at,the
various rocks. Then it was geting
'late so we walked ba,ek to the bus.
There were same pretty sleepy kids
on the bus going home, but .1 think
everyone enjoyed it.

Ladies Meet For
Pay Of Prayer
Ladies from• Nile and Dungannon
United Churches and from St.
Augustine Parish joined., with
Christian Fellowship ladies at their
church for World *Day of Prayer
service on Friday afternoon in spite
of inconveniences caused by high
wind and lack of hydro in that part
of the village. •
Mrs. Cecil Blake was the
speaker, speaking on the work of
the church in Latin America under
the, title 'Education - For All of
Life".
Music was supplied by a quartet
from the Christian Fellowship
church, Mrs. Murray Martin, Mrs.
Orrie Gingerich, Mrs. • Noah Frey
and Mrs. Laverne Martin.

Unit 1 Lucknow United Church
Women held their regular meeting
on Tuesday afternoon; March 2nd
in the church •parlour. Mrs. Chas.
McDonald welcomed all and open-
ed the meeting with a paper
"Women Alive", which contained
much to think about. Prayer
followed.
Hymn 405 "Stand up stand up
for Jesus" was sung. The roll call
"an item from the Observer" was
well answered by 13 present. Mrs;
McDonald gave a report of the, visit
to Pinecrest'on February 9th' when
Unit 1 put on a,prograin and served
cookies and visited the patients.
Mrs. Andrew Ritchie gave the
treasurer's report. Mrs., Eldon
Henderson gave the report of
visiting shut ins and cards sent in•
the month. • •
Mrs. Worden • Howald, gave a
reading on Christian ,and Mission-
ary Education "The Aroma". Mrs.
Glen Walden convener for social
functions made arrangements for
unit 1 for catering to a dinner on
Friday, April 2nd. Mrs. Russ
Button gave a reading for Steward 7
ship and recruiting "God has a
place for all things". Three from
Unit who had attended the
U.C.W. Presbyterial in Palmerston
on Monday, March 1st each gave a
short report. Mrs. Chas; McDon;
ald said the theme for the 14th ,
annual conference was "Women
Alive". There were1238 registered,
10 ladies from Lucknow. Mrs. Glen
Walden gave' the report of the
guest speaker, Mrs. Rev. Nettie
Hoffman from Windsor. She said
