The World Day of Prayer for the
Kinlough area was held in the
Anglican Church on . Friday after-,
noon with an attendance of 261
adults and,5 children. Miss Edna
Boyle, organist, played soft music
and the ladies were welcomed' by
Mrs: George Haldenby and Mrs.
George Graham,
The World Day of Prayer.
program was followed, led by Miss
May Boyle and Mrs. ' Delbert
liedley. The hymns "In Christ
there is no East or West", "Take
my life and let it be", "What a,
friend we have in Jesus" and "0
God of love, 0 king of peace", also
the Doxology and the song on the
sheet, "There's a world out there"
were sung.
Bible readings were given by
Mrs. Art Haldenby, Mrs. Glen
Haldenby, Mrs. Howard Thompson
and Mrs. Man Rhody. Mrs. Fred
Page favOured with a solo "Prayer
is the Soul's Sincere Desire" and
Mrs. Jaick Barr and Mrs. Glen
Haldenby favoured with a duet "In
the Garden".
Three scenes, first, "reality of
poverty"; scene 2, "the reality of
relationship" and 'scene 3, "the
reality of repression" were enacted
by ladies, namely, Mrs.
Bill MacPherson, Mrs: Frank
Maulden.-Mrs.' Don Bushell, Mrs.
.'Jack Barr and Mrs. Don Reid.
Mrs. Morley Scott read a poem
from the Youth Service, Mrs.
Gerald Rhody, Mrs. Allan Rhody
' and Mrs. Wayne Rhody did a
playette from the Youth program
entitled "I was glad when they said
`Let us go into the house of the
-Lord' ".
Mrs. Midford Wall was the
speaker, and gave a splendid
address on the responsibility of the
church, in keeping with the theme,
"Education for all of life". Mrs:"
Howard Thompson thanked the
speaker and all who took part in the
program. Mrs. Ed Green and Mrs.
art' Haldenby received the offering
and it was unanimous, that this
money go to Guatemala., Mrs. Bill
.MacPherson was chosedleader for
the 1977 World Day of Prayer
service, which will be held in the
Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Vernon Hunter was' hostess
for the March 2 meeting of Unit 2 of
Lucknow United Church.
Mrs. George Jardine presided,
and gave an interesting report on
the Presbyterial in Palmerston.
She gave highlights of Mrs.
Hoffman's address "Women
alive". As" it takes •all Members to
make one body, so it takes different
giftS and talents to make a
well-balanced society, Hymn 424
"My times are in Thy hand'" was
sung. Roll call, was• answered by'
"Tell something would like to do,
and haven't found "Time".
The treasurer's report 'was given
by Mrs. Jim Mathers and Mrs.
Howard Barger reported from
visitation. A short paper was given ,
by Mrs. AI Irwin, Stewardship and
Recruiting Convener. • It stressed
.the need of an honest heart and
prayer in overcoming our doubts
and difficulties, Mrs. Ted 'Rice
reported for Soda] Functions and
arranged for food and help for a
banquet. A program is to be given
at Pinecrest Manor on March 23.
Mrs. John‘ Kilpatrick was in
charge of devotions and program.

was sung, followed by prayer, The

AUxiliary and. Units 4 and S of the
Lucknow United Church met for
joint meeting in the Fellowship
Room of the United Church on
March 2. Mrs., A. J. Wilson
Opened the meeting with 'a reading
"A 'Friend" and the hymn "Blest
be the tie that binds" was .sung:'
Mrs. Wilson extended a welcome
to all. The offering was received
and dedicated 'by Mrs, Robert
Finlay. The meeting was reminded
of the World Day of Prayer on
Friday. March 5. •
Mrs. Lloyd . Moffat presided for
the program, opening with a poem
on Faith. Mrs. James Aitchison
read the scripture and gave a
thought-provoking meditation on
"A Handful of New Days". The
meeting enjoyed a delightful piano
duet by Mary Ellen Havens and
Mrs. 'Wm. Scott. The hymn
"Standing at the portal" was sung.
Mrs. Jack MacDonald brought
an inspiring message on Meeting
the Challenge of 1976.
Nancy Brown favoured with a
vocal solo "I Asked' the. Lord to
Comfort Me". Mrs. ',Frank
Hawthorne gave the courtesy
remarks followed by the hymn
**Saviour now the day is ending".
The meeting closed with the Lord's
Prayer repeated in unison. A social,
hour was enjoyed.
South Kintoss
Mrs. Harold Austin was hostess
for the' March meeting • of South
Kinloss Women's Missionary Soc-
iety on Wednesday afternoon.
Mrs. Ira Dickie presided and
opened the meeting with ,a poem
'Recipe for March'. The hymn '0
love that casts out fear' was sung,
folloWed by prayer. °
The Bible Study on the Parable
of the Sower was led by Mrs. Lome
Sparks. She told of the types of soil
that the seed is planted in, that,
unless we have faith,,, the word. of
God will not grow in us. Donations
to an. In Remembrance to the late
Mrs.' Roderick Campbell were
received. An invitation to attend
the Easter thankoffering of Luck-
now Evening Auxiliary was' accept-
ed for April 7. The hymn 'Sowing
in the morning', followed by the
roll call, with a verse with the
word 'seed' was given by fourteen
members:
Mrs. Evan Keith introduced the
study' book for this year 'Religions
in Japan and Taiwan'. :Several
members, read fact sheets compar-
ing the geography, the population;
the religions and the economy 'of
the two countries. The Prayer
Circle was given by . Mrs. Douglas
Graham, Mrs. Fraser MacKinnon
,and Mrs. Alvin Schmidt.
Mrs. Lloyd MacDougall conduct-
ed several quizzes. The meeting

The March meeting of White-
church United Church Women was
held on Monday at •the home of
Mrs. Muriel Thompson of Wing-
ham.
Mrs. Milan Moore, convener,
opened the meeting with the hymn
Come let us sing. Mrs. Bob Adams
led in prayer. Mrs. Thompson
gave a meditation on Lent. Mrs.
Rob Adams read the scripture,
Matthew 13: 31-34 and 'Isaiah '58:
6-9. The,hymn In Christ there is no
East or West was sung.
Mrs. Milan. Moore continued
her talk on Panzaina, 'discussing,
the religion, ancestral, Islein and
Christianity. The government is
socialism but not communism. The
women are %coming into their own
and getting an education.
All' sang hytnn I am there 0 Lord.
The' roll call was answered 'by 13
with a bible verse with word peace.
A birthday tea was enjoyed by all.

Church Sunday School room on
Friday, March 5 at 2 p.m. Mrs.
Don Ross played piano music while
the crowd was gathering.
Mrs. John de Boer was the first
leader. Miss Betty Inglis gave the
reader portion. The Reality of
Poverty was given by Mrs. Wallace
Conn as mother #1 and mother #2
was Mrs. Gordon Rintoul with Mrs.
Wesley Tiffin as the woman #3.
The Reality Of Relationship• was
taken by Mrs. Wallace Conn as the
man and the woman by Mrs.
Gordon Rintoul, Mrs. Davidson -
gave the bible reading, Genesis 1:
26-28.
Mrs. Lome Durnin was leader

different churches where she had
attended the World Day of Prayer.
Rev. Brown was thanked by Mrs.
Clifford Laidlaw. The offering was
received by Mrs. 'Dawson Craig
and Mrs. Fred Tiffin and dedicated
by Mrs. John de Boer.
