Council met for the regular
February, meeting at the Township
Garage on Tuesday afternoon,
February 10, at 1.00 p.m., one
week later than usual due to
adverse weath0 conditions the
previous week. All members
attended and Reeve Lyons presid-
ed.
The minutes of the regular
January meeting were read ,and
adopted on ,motion of Councillors
loran and Hickey.,
- Reeve Lyons, the Township
representative on " the Lucknow
Medical Centre committee, report-
ed to council regarding increased
costs at the Medical Centre.
Allan Dickson, Wes NivinS and
, Tom Young attended Abe meeting,,
and discussed with :council their
objections to the, Kirk Drain Repair
and Improvement, both as it
appears in the original report and .
proposed changes. Councillor
Foran' moved that Provisional :
By-law #9, 1975, The Kirk Municip-
al Drain Repair and Improvement
By-law, be given third reading.
There was no seconder. Council-
lors Stothers and Hickey moved

, "That the:Report be referired back
to Gamsby and Matinerow for
further consideration regarding
proposed modifications to the

Wingham, attended: the Council
meeting and obtained signatufes
On the contract for the Gaunt
Municipal Drain construction, •
Archie Purdon spoke to Council
about the Huron-Bruce 'Swinger's
square dance, club, and 'the
Township's contribution to its
financing. The clerk agreed to talk
to the auditor regarding • the
• Recreation Grant available on 'these
expenses, and if the .Township is
actually receiving a one-third grant"
for InstructOts' fees.
A resohition from the Towns of
.lanover to have a special commis-
. sion set up to examine all aspects of
education in Ontario,
and
tabled.
Councillors Hickey and ,Stothers:

pointed the representative from the
Township of West WaWanosh at '
the Organizational Meeting into
the LucknOw River Watershed of
Maitland Valley -Conservation
Authority".
By-law #2, 1976, was •given third

motion' of councillors Hickey and
foran. This by-law authorizes, the
township', to borrow up to $150,000
tai cover necessary expenditures
until taxes are levied and collected.

up to $28,000 to cover expenditureS
for construction and incidental
costs for the Gaunt Municipal
Drain until the drain is completed
,and the assessments levied and
collected.

Farmer Passes
ROY MacK AY
John Roy MacKay; of ,Lu9know
passed away 'in . Wingham and
District Hospital on' • Saturday,
February 14th in his 77th year.
He was born in AShfield Town-
ship' on December' 12, 1899, ,a son
oil Murdoch J.- ..MacKay and
Isabelle MacCrae. On July 27,
'106 he married Isabelle MaRLeod
of Huron Township, They farmed
in .Ashfield until retiring to
Lucknow in 1965 where they built a
new home on Victoria Street.
Mr. MaCKay is survived 'by his
wife; two daughters, Mrs. Thomas
(Anne) Pritchard. , of R. R. 1
Lucknow and Mrs. Bert (Florence)
Shier of R. R. 5 Kincardine;, five
grandchildren; two sisters and,,two
brothers, Mrs. ' Dan (Margaret)
MacKeniie of . Lucknow, Mrs.
Harry. (Florence)-Edwards of God- -
erich, James MacKay of Calgary,
Alberta and Duncan MaCKay. 'of
Vancouver, B.C. '
He was predeceased by ' two
brothers and three sisters, Alex of
Detrdit, George of Ashfirld, Mrs.
Robert (Rebecca) Bullen of Goder-
ich, Mrs. Harry" (Mary) Lockwood
of Monroe„ Michigan and. Mrs.
James (Annie) Beaton of Lueknow.
The late Mr. MacKay was
affiliated with the F'res.byterian
Reformed Church, Lochalsh,
Rev. -Finlay McCormick, conduct-
ed' the funeral service held at
MacKenzie Memorial Chapel,
Lucknow on Tuesday, February
17th. .
Temporary entombment was at
South Kinloss Mausoleum with
final. resting place Lochalsh Cemet;
cry.

Coun01 met' on February 9th
with all members present. •
A 'resolution •by, the ToWn of
Chesley regarding the hospital
closing was. endorsed:
Finlay MacDonald was appoint-
ed to represent Ashfield and vote
on behalf of the municipality at : a
meeting of the Maitland Valley
Conservation Authority to be held
in Wroxeter regarding the proposal
to include the Lucknow River
Watershed in the ,Authority.
The Reeve and Clerk were
authorized to4sign. on behalf of the
Township a subdivision agreement.

proposals for' the new bridge at
Dungannon on concession 4-5 and
the several approaches they are
considering. • .
Alvin Sherwood waspresent with
a request for permission to install'a
water line on concession 4-5.
Ratepayers assessed on the Lane
Drainage Works were present and
after discussion, a motion was
passed that council proceed with_
the work ..as, outlined ' in the
engineer's report.
