Since July, 1974 he had been a
resident 'at Brucelea Haven..
He was born on March 29, 1884,
in Ashfield. TownShip: 'a sou Of
Joseph Hackett' and Eliza Jane
Mr. ack. eft "farmed in Ashfield
Township until 1946 when he
moved to Winghain where he
tarried on the Allis Chalmers
businessior 15 years. He retired to
LuCknow in 1961.
Mr. Hackett, while in• Ashfield,
served as councillor and later as
reeve of the Township.
He was twice married. In
September 5, 1906. -he married
Janet Hunter. She' passed. away
March 2, 1970. On July 29, 1971 he
married Clara Downey, who passed
away on October .11, 1975. Mr.
Hackett was also predeceased by
one 'daughter Mrs. Pharis (Maizie)
Mathers on November 24,,1973 and
four sisters Mrs., George (Jennie)
HuriteK, Mrs. Bert (Amelia) Tre-
leaN', Mr's. Herb (Ellen) Stotbers,
Mrs. Jack (Mar,y) Bradley:
He is survived by font: sons,
Clifford of Goderich, Thornas of
LucknOw, Mel -of Port Elgin, Alex
of Ashfield; two brothers and two
sisters, Thomas, Mrs. Ewart (Ida)
Taylor, Mrs. Wilfred (Jannet)
Drennan and. Harry, all of Luck '
now; also thirteen grandchildren
and forty-two great grandchildren.
The funeral service 'was held at
the MacKenzie Memorial Chapel,
Lucknow on Saturday, February 7.

night. All went back to.the church
for hot chocolate and do-nuts.
The Kairshea #2 4-H group met
on Saturday at the home of Mrs.
Evan Keith. Thee girls decided

strated making Roasted Apples
which were very delicipuS. "
Keith served banana muffins,
current mtiffiris, and pineapple loaf
along with a fresh fruit cup. The
next meeting will be held at Mrs.
Clark'S on Saturday, February
