BRUCE COUNTY
FARM REPORT
DAIRY NEWS .
o.M,M,B. chairman, George
McLaughlin, addressed the Annual
Milk Producer's meeting in Walk-
erton, February 6th. An excellent
/turnout of over two hundred and
, fifty producers4nd their wives was
'Present for the meeting.
Mr. McLaughlin speculated as to
what the forthcoming Dairy .Policy
fora 1976-77 will be. The policy
cannot be finalized until total
production figure's for the 1975-76
year are. available.
It appears that total 'National'
M.S.Q. will be reduced next year,
by possibly' seventeen percent.
Ontario will be obtaining M.S.Q.
from provifices where production
has declined and thus the Ontario
M.S.Q. reduction is expected to be
closer" to fifteen percent.
At the end of March, total
M.S.Q. utilization in Ontario can be'
calculated for 1975-76. 'At that
point the 0.KIVI.B. will be able to
determine how much the individual
producer's M,S.Q. will,have to be
reduced to stay -within Ontario's
allotment of the National require-
ment.' Mr. McLaughlin, suggested
individual quotas could be reduced
by something between seven and
twelve percent. His advice to the
meeting was that producers should
either cover production with more
M.S.Q. or reduce cow numbers
come April 1st to avoid• stiff over
production holdbacks.
Don Ireland of Teeswater was
elected as the new County Milk
Committee Chairman; Dave Cob-
ean is vice chairman' and Harvey
Weppler is secretary treasurer.
New committee men elected
were: Jim Farrell and John
Gamble, Ripley: • Lloyd . Brown,
Chesley . and Vern Wormington,
Allenford. They will serve a three
year tam.
