The treasurer's report .and assist- ant. treasurer's report were read. Due. to weather conditions no. January meeting was held. Correspondence was read and business dealt with. It was ,decided to. send the registration fee of $60:00 for the May Conference. Group 2 are to be in. charge of the planning of the Spring Institute banquet of our branch. Mrs. Gordon Struthers invited us to her home for March 4th meeting if weather conditions are still extreme, No, card, parties are planned • for February. Mrs, Richard Humphrey and Mrs. Tony. McQuail plan to attend, training school in February. .to lead the 4-H Club project, "A Touch of Stitch- ery ` The motto "Self control is the `ability to idle our motor when you feel like strippini the gears" was given 'by Mrs. Harold Gautit. She suggested we look 'ahead to 'our Senior Citizen Age which we are all headed for: She gave a humorous reading aboulleaving things on the' stair steps. Mrs. Robt. Aitchison gave an interesting topic, "Agriculture and Canadian Industries" being the 'theme. She spoke about the, Industries of Kapuskasing, a paper • on "Stand Up° For Agriculture". The value of a farmer's wife is $17,212 a year for all the duties she performs. She read an interesting poem "If you're •married to, a farmer and closed with a list .of "Handy Ideas" for the housewife. Mrs. Gordon Struthers gave a good reading "Are you-a lifter or a', leanee'. Mrs. Ernest Gaunt gave a reading from Ethel Chapman's book "Place In The Family" .which was enjoyed. Little. Beverley Aitchison took, up the collection. The meeting closed with 0 Canada and the Institute Grace. A tasty lunch, was enjoyed, the hostesses being Mrs. Ernest Gaunt and Mrs. Frank MacQuillin. LANGSIDE Congratalations to Mr. and Mrs. John Visser (nee Bev Hedley) who were• married on ''Saturday in the Anglican Church, Kinlough with a reception being held in the Holyrood hall in the evening. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Young, and , family visited *on Saturday •evening, JanUary 31st with Mr. and Mrs.. Don Wall and Krista of Culross. Langside Church was cancelled the list two Sundays due to' stormy weather which blocked side roads and'Inade visability almost nil: TOBOGGANING PARTY The Langside Whitechurch Young Peoples held A tobogganing party on JerusaleM Hill, behind Bob Adam's farm, on 'Saturday Mrs., Ernest Gaunt presided for 'the program.' Two readings "The difference between htisband and wife" and 'Progress isn't improve- ment" were given by Mrs. James 'Aitchison and brought a chuckle. afternoon, January 31st with Jite and Judy de Boer hosting the party. Four snowmobiles were also present to transport the young folks. Eighteen members were present. Lunch was served afterwards at the de Boer home. • An enjoyable afternoon was report- ed. The Langside Sunday School .Pot luck supper and achievement night which was to have been held laSt Friday evening has been Postponed until a later date. ' The annual meeting of the Langside Presbyterian Church was held on Saturday afternoon; Janu- ary. 31st with a good attendance. Retiring managers Were Wes Young •and .Bob Orr with William Young and Wally Weir'sma being 'elected as new managers.
