On Tuesday of this week, February 3, Mrs. George McLean Sr. of Ripley celebrated. her 84th birthday. Her many friends extend best wishes on this happy occasion. Early last week Mr, and \Mrs. John C. MacDonald returned home to Ripley from a two week winter vacation. Mary and Jack were in that land of pineapples and sunshine - Hawaii. Incidentally it was snowing and storming when they left Ripley on the week end of January 10 and it is still .doing-just that. , Each Saturday two or more cars. filled with red capped 'and red jacketed hunters come to the Ripley area to hunt rabbits. On occasion as they hunt over the land blocks adjacent to the , village, the booming of their shot guns is , heard in Ripley. It is just' too bad that all those distructive cottontails in the village are nocturnal in their habits. " sod Vows Huron/vow We are happy to report' that 'the flu bughas cleared up and• we hope that prOgrams will soon be back to normal. Activities were carried on in each of the areas, during the past month such as sing songs, bingo's and the showing of coloured slides of birthdays and events at the home. '• A special program was arranged and directed by Jim Lawrie, of 'Blyth, for "Family Night" in honour of Bobbie Burns Bitthday. Jim sang several Scottish songs and Mrs. Ella Richmond was accompanist e for' the program. There were dance numbers by Kim' Craig and Karen Glousher; Beth and Laurie Charters; Kathy Battye and Ted Elliott. There were instrumentals by Jim McAll, violin, and a combination of vocal and. instrumentals by the Elliott broth- ers Rick and Mel. . The Gospel Players sang several religious 'numbers and they include James Wharton, Robert „ Esther and the Brat-timer Family. AsSistant Administrator Wayne Lester led the Bible Study last week and Mrs. •Elsie Henderson was'. organist for the service. Everyone knows that ft is a tough winter' with all this snow. To break up. the glare ice on the, fifteenth south early.last week foreman Max Bushell of Lucknow brought in the heavy Bruce County' Grader Plow operated by Tom W and Larry Nicholson of Belfast. Normally it plows a county road in the Teeswater area. Operating from the new Huron Township garage at the ,east end of Malcolm Street are the two township grader plows with Joe Hodgins, George Dickieson, and John MacDonald. Foreman Dave Moore is • in charge of the Huron Township roads: Operating a sand hauling truck is Harry Coiling. This is only a part of the ' work force on the roads here., As other names become known they will receive mention, Lait,Sunday- with blowing and dtifting snow reducing visibility, all plowing was reduced or cancelled in some cases. Allan Wyld, of Huron Township, concession '6 west, was transferred from Kincardine • hospital to St. Joseph Hospital in London a week ago. Last Friday he underwent surgery in St. Joe's and is presently recovering there. * * * * * PAGI TointirogN Cheryl Whitney scored once ,for the Killers. GIRLS' FLOOR HOCKEY , On'February 5, the first game Was played by the Road. Runners and the Tiger Cats. They tied 2 - 2. Karen Lawrence scored for .the Road Runners while Kaye Walden • and Debbie Gegwetch scored for the Tiger Cats. In the second game, •the Killers and Wild Fire fought to a 3' - 3 tie.
