Lancers Win Two
In A Row
The Lucknow Lancers Intermed-
iate hockey team finally put 'two
wins in a row together since last
writing. .
The reporter missed last week's
deadline because of weather. The
Milverton-Lucknow game is nearly
two weeks old. It's rather hard to
get enthused about writing up a
10-3 loss. Milverton will probably
be the toughest team in the league.
I.ucknow's scoring went to Dave
MacKinnon from. 'Graham Hata.;
ton and Kevin Austin; Donald.
Mann from Doug Stevenson and
Pete Chisholm and third goal to
Dave MacKinnon unassisted.
Lucknow went to Goderich on
Wednesday, February ‘t and came
out with a big win playing with, only
9 forward players. Jim Frayne
played a super game in net and
John Emberlin practically sunk the
sailors by single handedly scoring
five goals. Harvey Livingston and
Kevin Austin finished the scoring
to win 7-6.. s
On Friday night, sparked by the
big win against Goderich,' the
Lancers took control, of the game
right from the start. Being short of
players as usual with weather,
school and travelling, coach Ed-
wards called 'a line . from the
bush league to round out the
roster.
Jim Frayne played very well
despite having 7 , goals scored on
him and held the boys' in' the
running to grab the win 9-7.
Scoring went to Dave MacKinnon'
4, John Emberlin 2, Jim Murray,
Gert de Jong and Gary Courtney.
Assists went to Jim Murray 3,
Graham Hamilton 2, GarY Court- ,
ney -2, Kevin , Austin 2, John
Emberlin, Harvey Livingtton, Dave
MacKinnon, Steve Hackett - and
Paul Frayne. According to the '
latest statistics, the LancerS can'
'make the playoffs with a continued
winning streak. Let's give them.
some, real support and cheer them
on.

HENSALL 7 - LVCKNOW 4
Lucknow • returned to Hensall
Thursday night and quickly jumped
into a 3-0.1ead as they completely,
outplayed the Hensall team.
Then the referees turned the
game , completely around as they
refused to . see anything but
Lucknow penalties with as many as
6 Lucknow boys in the penalty box
at one time.
The series was' to have been
played with neutral referees.
Lucknow had referees sent in by
the W.O.A.A. while Hensall select-
ed referees out of their own Minor
Hockey System.
One of these was an uncle of one
of the boys who played on the
team. It is very discouraging to
look after a Minor Hockey team
when you get this type of treatment
from men who are supposed to be
in charge of sport in their
community, HenSall.
Our boys were slashed, speared
and high sticked without fear of
being penalized, arid our boys
have marks to prove it; including
loose teeth.
Foran organization, such as
W.O.A.A. or O.M.H.A. who con-
tinue to stick in rules 'to penalize
boys, while'nothing is done to clean
up organizations such Hensall's
reckless treatment of playoff agree-
menis, they are wasting their time.
We, are not in favour of rough
play or fighting but when 'a boy is
subjected to this type of officiating
what Must he do? Go hide in the
corner and let Hensall do as they
feel?
Incidently Lucknow was called
for 101 minutes in penalties,
Hensall was called for 31.
At time: of writing protest of the
game was being Considered.
After a fairly successful season,
the Lucknow Minor hockey system
swung into the playoffs. Atoms‘
Pee Wees, Bantams and Midgets
all are matched against Hensall in
the quarter-finals while the Juien-
iles are playing the final for
'W.O.A.A. with Mildmay.
The Juveniles journeyed to
Mildmay, February 5 and dropped
a 6-4 decision to the Mildmay team
in a well played game.
Lucknow marksmen were . Ken
Reid with 1 goal and 1 assist, Doug
Shields with 1 goal, Randy` Alton
with 1 goal. Paul Simpson with 1
goal and' 1 assist and John
Hamilton with 1 assist.
