Dear, Editor,
In early June 1972,*the Transport
Committee of the House of.
Commons in' Ottawa tabled in the
House the following motion in the
form of a recommendation to. the
Government. This committee
(composed of a majority of Liberal
4v1.P.'s) unanimously urged the
Federal Government to hnPlement
at once the committee's re'com-
mendation that, all 4-ail passenger
service in Southwestern Ontario,
which had been totally eliniinated
On Nov. 1, 1970, be 're-instated
completely, and at once. This
'recommendation and motion_came
only after the Parliamentary, Com-
mittee had held extensive and
expensive public hearings in South-
Western Ontario 'involving' thous-
ands, of ordinary citizens, as well
municipal councils, county coun-
cils, boards of 'trade, and the
Government of Ontario. This good
Parliamentary Committee found
that there was .an inimediate desire
and need for the restorati&iof rail.
passenger service in Southwestern
Ontario. What- 'do we have in the
‘cin way. of Gov rn rit response and
action on this ttion after nearly
four years? '- Answer - A great, big
over-sized zero.
May we ask? How interested and
concerned is our Federal Govern-
ment on energy (gas) conservation,
reduction of Air pollution, travel

Dear Editor,
In a letter to the Editor, 'January
'7th, 1976, .1 protested against the
spending of public money by, the
TownshiP' of • West'Wawanosh,
referring to the honoring of the
former 'Road Superintendent.
The $307 question is, why should
the taxpayer bleed? I also asked in
that . letter, for money to 'be
replaced -'no comment. The
response to that first letter, sorry to
say, were nil. The response tome,
made by people, 'were correspond-
ing very much with my own views.
The excuses', to express them-
setves;"publicly, were mostly be-
cause of relationship, or business
reasons and it was even mentioned,
"Well, it's only a' little thing". If
only some of these so called little
things would have been stopped
before they developed , into big
things, like Watergate or our
precious Olympics etc. Billion
Dollar Headaches, that's what they
are, and all left in the end, for 'the'
taxpayer to digest.
Let it be • known, that have
written a letter, to the Tow' ship of
West Wawanosh, asking, theM, to
&plain to us the taxpayer, to
justify such money spending, if,
possible? This, matter shall not
rest,, until satisfaction is achieved,
one way or the other.
Yours sincerely,.
Juergen Becker.

How' concerned are we, ..as far' as
that goes???. If, as is _suggested,
the Government subsidizes the
Railways to the tune—of $150,000;-
000.00 per year - How many more
'millions (or billions) hasit.Spent on
the airlines, airports, Mirabel, and
(Piekering!!!) the last 3 or 4 years.
What good is an aeroplane to, get
an ordinary citizen say, from Owen
Sound to Toronto? Where are
the promised trains???4 ?
Come on, fellow citizens - Write
a letter of protest to your M.P., the
Prime, Minister, the' Minister of
Transport, etc, Simply address to
the House of Commons, Ottawa,
Ontario and mail is, postage-free
while" Parliament is in Session.
Remember, that the wheer which
doesn't squeak, doesn't get greas-
ed. Remember also that the so,
called big wheels in the Depart-
ment of Transport are away up
there someplace in the clouds.
Let's puncture these clouds . with
missives of protest, ,and get them
on the right track once again. And
let us not forget, that it was the,
building of the Railways across this
,great country, that made .Canada A
United. Nation in the first place.
