A flying sqUirrel appeared .to be
a real novelty in the community.
One :got into the basement at the
farm home of T. J. Salkeld, where
it met an untimely end when
caught in a trap. It was grey-red
and a little smaller than a red -
squirrel. It had a webbed skin
attached,to the four legs and when
the front legs were fully extended
there was a kite-like spread of '-
seven inches. The tail was ,flat, on
the underside and measured about
1 1/2 inches across.
