prevalling, the,' funeral for Mrs,
.Charlotte Maityn 'was held '.at
eleven last Wednesday morning at
the McLennan McCreath. Funeral
Home in. Ripley. Charlotte passed
away at Brucelea Haven in

The former Charlotte; MacKinnon'
was born January 20: 1887 on thp
- sixth . concession west :in Huron
Township. She and her husband,
the late Angus D. Martyn, farmed
at lot 25, concession 8 in Huron -
two blocks west of Ripley, prior to
their retirement to Ripley. Over
the years this "kind .'and friendly
lady became known to all this.

Among the suwising nephews are
Donald Bell of Metro 'Toronto and
Aeneas Martyn Of Stroud. She is
survived by a sister, Mrs. George
Jarrell. of Brantford and a brother
Donald MacKinnon. of Delta,
British Columbia. Sympathy is
extended to all relatives:

became vice chairman of the Bruce
County. Board of Education.
Cameron repregents the municipal-
ities of Huron and Ripley 'on the
Board.

Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Grieve of
Capreol in Northern Ontario visited

Gossell in' Ripley. Mr. and Mrs,
Grieve were amazed at the amount

John Coiling was recently able to
return home to Ripley from London
where he' had undergone surgery.
Also home from hospital in London
on the week' end was, Jerry 'Huber
who underwent tests iast week.

On Monday evening of last week
the annual meeting of the Ripley
Agricultural Society was held with
president Morley Scott of Purple
Grove in charge. Reports &Om the
various., departments of the fair
showed that last September's
Ripley-Huron fall fair - the first one
in the new Ripley. Huron Complex,
*was the most successful 'one to
date. The' 1976 fair was set for
Friday and Saturday, September 24
and 25. p Attending the meeting,
were Marjorie Thompson, Gladys
Arnold, Fran Wylds, Doreithy
Brooks, Marjorie Reid, Katherine
Coiling, Frances. Godfrey, Deana
Scott, Janet S'arrell, Barbara Gam-
ble and Sheila MacDonald for the
ladies,' along with Morley Scott,
Russ Brooks, Jack Farrell, Dan A
MacDonald, Lester Ferguson, Gor-
don Patterson, Hugh Mason, Jim
Brooks; John Gamble, Jim. Need-
ham, Ray. Fuller, Reg Moore and
Ab' Wylds. The Ontario convention
in. the Royal. York Hotel. on
February 18 and 19 was disaussed.
With the snow coming down the
next day' andf-continuing forthe
remainder of the week it was
fortunate that the meeting was on
Monday.

Mrs.. Marion McCharles of the
Lochalsh area and Mrs. Anne
Mason of Kincardine spent last
week in Hamilton. It was snowy
and stormy when they left here on
Tuesday and was still very wintry
when they returned last Saturday.
They completed, succeSsfully . the
third segsion of a five session
course at the school for judges in
Horticulture r enducted by Dr. and
Mrs. Laking at' the Royal Botanni-
cal Garden in Hamilton. They
attended sessions last June and
September. The two remaining
sessions will' be held in May and
September this year. To complete
a session, six written examinations
must be ptssed and six classes in
practical judging are required. The
first three sessions of the two year
course have covered peonies and
irises,: house plants, annual flowers
and vegetables.

from London was' Murray Huber.
visiting with' his parents , Mr. and
Mrs. 'Jerry ifuber and 'family.
On' Saturday Mrs. Jack Peter-
baugh of Bervie passed away in. St.
Joseph's Hospital in London. The
funeral service was at .the Ross
MacLennan Ftineral fitime in
Kincardine with .interment in the
cemetery there on Tuesday after-
noon this week. Surviving are .her
husband; a daughter Eileen, Mrs..
John Matheson of Kincardine
Township; two sons' William of
Kincardine Township and Donald
of Rip_ley. Also t*o,sisters survive -
Ina, Mts. William Eadie of
Wingham and formerly of Holy-
rood; and Miss Eva Culbert of
Pinecrest Manor Nursing Home in
Lucknow, Mrs: Peterbaugh, the
former Edna Culbert was born in
Huron Township on December 27, •
1899. The Culbert family farm is
the one now owned by Mr. and
Mrs.. Earl Elliott on the tenth
concession east in Huron ,Township

Wingham General Hospital, Thurs-
day evening of last week with a •
heart condition.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles 'Wilkins
and, his mother, Mrs. Frances
Wilkins spent Thursday of last
week in London, , They visited at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wesley
Alton. Mrs. Frances Wilkins, at
the age of 84, tied 'ten quilts at the
time of writing in January.. :She'
made these quilts frotn patches
before tying them.
Mr. and Mrs.. ToM 1-1elm and
family visited 'at .the home of \her
brother, Mr. and Mrs. Donald
Pollard on Sunday where they
celebrated her mother/s birthday,
