Sympathy is extended to the
family of Mrs. Lawrence Smith who
passed away on Thursday while on
the way to VVingham-HoSpital. She
had been in poor health for some
time.
Mrs; Cecil Blake has a Christmas
cactus plant which produced a least
a hundred blooms this, season. Her
. two amaryllis bulbs have excelled
themselves with beautiful blooms.
Debbie Vella of Goderich called
on her aunts,'Mrs. Graham McNee
,and Mrs. Mary Bere on. Saturday.
Some from the village'- were

storm stayed in Goderich on Friday
night 'as police were turning
travellers back on Highway 21.
Duane Rivett and Jamie Bere
were amowg the boys of Lucknow
beam who 'took part in the LAtorn
Hocke-Tournantent. at Seaforth on
Saturday. Duane• scored a goal in
the "first game agairist Mitchell
which the Lucknow 'team won with
a score of 6-3. 'In their second
game, pla*g against ListOwel, the
score w_asA-2 in favottt of Listowet-
so Lucknow team di4 mit get a
trophy but enjoyed a day of hockey,'

Sympathy is extended to Mr. and
Mrs. Reginald Jones andlamilY on
the 'death of Mrs. Jones' mother,
Mrs. Vida Tanner, on January 8 in
Toronto. Mrs. Jones and boys
stayed an extra week in Toronto
after the holidays to be with her
fathei. ' •
Mr.; and • Mrs. Ivan Rivett,
Shelley and their niece, Melanie
Dustow spent a couple Hof weeks in
Florida during which they were at
Daytona Beach, Tampa- and Dis-
neyland. They found the weather
cool for Florida' but .baliny compar-,
ed to what' they came back to.
Mr. and Mrs. Larry Pentland are
in' Florida for about ten days.
Mr. and Mrs. 'Harold Cook
enjoyed a ten day trip to Hawaii on
a tour with Trojan corn salesmen.
Mrs. MacDonald,- Susan's mother,
of Richard's Landing' in Northern.
Ontario came, to stay with Kim and
Chris vvhile._their parents were
away.
The 'theme of the Sunday service
at Dunganrion United Church was
church unity and Rev. H. G.
Dobson's Sermon was entitled,
"Become Like. Him". Anyone
aged 14 or older who Wishes to be

Rick Orr. of Winton visited on
Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. Jack
McGee with whom he boarded
while teaching-at Brookside a few
yearS ago. He has been working in
Owen Sound but is presently
convalescing from an operation on
his shoulder to correct 'a previous
injury..

Lucky Draw at Wingham recently.
Stormy weather, icy roads and
poor visibility were cause of several
minor accidents and also school
cancellations and, hydro interrup-
`tions during the past week.
Sandy and " Bill Simpson have
returned to work in. Medicine Hat,
Alberta, after spending the Christ-
mas holiday season with , their
parents Mr. and Mrs. Donald
Simpson. Kenneth •Parrish has
returned to his studies ,,at Boston.

Star. Many from this area have
followed David's careey. in ,hockey
with great interest and have
attended many games within
travelling distance of home during
winter weather.

Election Of Warden
Brussels Reeve Jack McCutch-
eon 'became Warden of Huron
County following a- tie breaking
vote by Goderich Reeve. Stan Profit.
McCutcheon and Hullett 'Reeve
Allan Campbell were tied after the
second vote which required a
deciding vote by • the• GOderich
Reeve.
Clinton Reeve Harold' Lobb was '
eliminated after the,first ballot with
16 votes while Campbell and
McCutcheon had tied with 20. °
.McCutcheon and Campbell then
tied after the second ballot with 28
votes.
McCutcheon, 43, has served 'as
ReeVe of BrusselS since 1964 and at
the county level has served as
chairAian of 'the Management of
Huronview and Planning ;Commit-
tees.
McCutcheon said • that Huron
County had become a model for
other counties in its operation- and
believed -the county's committee
system. to be effective and thor-
ough. He was' a member of the
restructuring committee but was
• not interested in change for
change's sake.
"We have to keep. Out doors
,open and, decide'what we want' but I •
could'not sanction a change without
a detailed study," he said. "We
must work together with, the
municipalities and share our servic-
es and recreation and everyone in
the county may enjoy' the best of
both."
