by Jesus. She also led in prayer
and gave poems "In the morning"
and "A patch work quilt".
Rev. W. Brown installed the
officers for 1976.
Mrs. Milian Moore gaire , a
general outline of the 1 Country
Tanzamia .in Africa. The roll call
was answered by payment of fees.
Mrs. Durnin thanked the hostess
and all who had 'helped in' the
meeting.'-

v;as sent there in November. Mrs.
Gerald Rhody volunteered to assist
in the work committee and Mrs.
Howard Thompson and WS', Arts
Haldenby will be in charge of the
Women's World Day. of Prayer to
, relieve Mrs. Bert Nicholson olthat
office for this year.
The day set for the annual Vestry
meeting is Monday,- January 26th
at 2 o'clock. Mrs, Jack Scott will be .
the February, hostess. Rev, George
Garratt was thanked for doing the
A.C.W. programs pn the gestener.
The theme of the meeting was
the New Year. Mrs. George
Graham was the convener and-
, presided' for 'the program ,which
began with The hymn "Father let
me dedicate all this year'to thee".
Mrs. Graham and • Mrs. . Erie
Thacker each gave New Year's
readings. Mrs: Midford Wall read
"Goodbye old year" and Mrs.
David • Haidenby read "Morning
Joy". .
The hymn, "New every morning
is the love" was sung and Mrs. •
Jack Scott gave a well prepared
paper. ' for the meditation, -
"Thoughts for., the New Year".
Miss Edna Boyle conducted a
contest on "Men of the Bible". •
Miss May ,Boyle gave .a reading
"Recipe for a Happy New Year,
and Mrs. Gerald Rhody read "Lord

Beatitudes for homemakers" was
given by Mrs. Howard-Thompson
and Mrs. Art Haldenby read "A

Collins read "What God, has Given:
Me". The hymn "Breathe on me
breath of God" was sung followed
by prayer by Mrs. George Graham.

delicious lunch was served by the
hostess assisted by Mrs. George
Haldenby 'and Mrs. Garratt.

Trinity United Church Women
held their first regular meeting for
the 'new ' year, • on Thursday
afternoon, 'January 15, at the home
of Mrs. Warren Zinn, with• an
attendance of 16.
• The president, Mrs. Chester
Hackett, called the meeting to
order and Mrs. Alex Hackett gave a
reading "New Year. Meditation".
Mrs. Warren Zinn gave the
treasurer's report .and. reported on
the planned budget for 1976.
Mrs. D. A. Hackett opened the
devotions with the topic being
"What God Has Made of Us".
Hymn 249 was sung and Mrs. D. A.
Hackett and Mrs. Douglas Raynatd
read scripture from Isaiah respon-
sively, Mrs. Hackett read a Poem
"The Unchanging Christ". / Mrs.
Raynard read the scripture from
Romans. —Mrs. Hackett gave the
"Meditation" and hymn 42 was
sung. Mrs. Hackett closed the
devotions with prayer.
Mrs. Ken Alton gave The Trinity
Tattler. A skit was presented by 4
ladies, Mrs. Bill Andrew, Mis.
Marvin Scott, Mrs. DonaldHackett
and Mrs. Blake Alton, it'was called
"Reflections" and was interesting
and thought. provoking. • Three
thank-you notes 'were read. The
programs for the coming year were
distributed. The World's Day of
Prayer will be on March 5.
Mrs. Chester Hackett closed the
meeting with prayer .after the
singing of hymn 16.

World Religion
Day Is Marked
World Religion Day was observ-
ed Stinday evening,"Jannary 18, at
a public meeting, held at the.
Luckno*.Public SOhool. ,
Marilee Keisler of Walkerton ,
explained ' -that .the purpose of
World Religion Day was \ to •gain
recognition of religion as the
Motivating force of World unity,
David Rhody, a member of the
Baha'i Faith, a native of .this area
and living in Holyrood, was the
speaker for the evening. The
thettie was "God, Man and
Religion Throughout the Ages".
He said that he believed that' all
religions come from ' the same
Divine Source and that all are a
-progressive ,unfoldment of God's
Word for man. fie spoke futt11er of
the.concept of *.C.od,. of man's
relationship to God, and how He
reveals himself to man through His
chosen Messengers.
".Baha'u'llah,' Prophet-Founder of
the Bahal •Faith, .whose name
means "The Glory of God"
proclaimed the unity of God, the
unity of his-prophets, and 'inculcat-
ed the principle of the oneness and
unity of the human race. Bahals
,helieve that Baha'u'llah is the
latest, but not the last, of God's
messengers and that his teachings
are • the divine remedy for the
problems of this age. The evening
concluded with% 'an interesting
period for general discussion and a
sharing • of understanding and
beliefs. Lunch• 'vas served.

Donnybrook. United Church
Women met at the home of Mrs.
Stuart Chamney on Tuesday after-
noon, January 13th with 12 trem-
hers present and one child.
.Mrs. Roger Bieman and Mrs.
Edward Robinson were in charge of
the program. Mrs. Bietnan opened
the meeting With a poem `NeW,
Year'. Hymn 571, Standing 'at the
Portal, was sung. 'Mrs. Bieman
gave a prayer "In the New Year",
The offering, and members fees
were taken followed with the-
offertory Prayer. Faith of . our
Fathers was sung followed with a
bible reading by • Mrs. Stuart
Chan:they. Mrs. Robinson 'and•
Mrs. Biemati gave the meaning of
the letters in the word Liberate.
Mrs. • Bieman gave .a prayer
followed with the hymn "We will
know Christmas by our love".
• Mrs. Robinson gave a prayer.
Mrs;. Robinson took the topic and
gave 'a talk on Mission Profile. It
was on the Mission hospitals of the.
United Church in Canada. Most
mission hospitals are isolated in
British Columbia and .Newfound
land and are always in need of
doctors, nurses and other help.
Recruiting this help is more
important than money,
Mrs. Robinson gave a 'report on
card Sales followed with' ,the
secretary's report by Mrs. Stuart .
Chamney.
Mrs. Ray Hanna installed' the
new officers and the meeting' was
turned over to the new. president,
Mrs. Ernest Snowden. She opened
with prayer.
The Presbyterial meeting is 'at
Brucefield on February '4th at 9.30
arn ,' The,, meeting cloSed with
hymn 568 'and 'a prayer by Mrs., E.
Robinson. Lunch was served by.1
the hostess Mrs. Stuart Chamney
assisted by Mrs, Wes J'effer'son
and Mrs, Jas, Leddy.

Marys Hospital in Kitchener. Mrs.

The St, Helens United Church
Wothen met on January 13 ,,at the
home of Miss Isobel Miller and
Mrs. Tom Todd. In spite of bad
weather, eight,ladies answered the
roll call with word "Life".
Mrs. B. F. F Green, in charge of
the worship chose a "New Year's
theme. All satig.hymn "0 'God our
help in ages pasts' and repeated
the 23rd psalm in unison. Mrs.
Gordon MacPherson read "Portals
for a New Year": Miss Isabel
Miller read "A way to. •a Happy
New Year" and Mrs. B. F. Green
read several. New year' verses.
The • hymn, "For Thy mercy and
Thy grace" was read in unison.
Missionary letters were read by
Miss Isabel Miller, Mrs. Gordon.
MacPherson and Mrs. Ross Erring-
ton. • Mrs. B. P. Green led a .
discussion on the lilandate, and
had a reading "Eat Less".
, Mrs. Gordon MacPherson was in
'charge of the business. It was
deeided 'to hold a pot luck supper
on' the evening of ;.the annual
meeting. After refreshments the
meeting adjourned.

The -January meeting of South
'.Kinloss WOmen"s Missionary Soc-
iety was held at the home of Mrs.
Harold Campbell, LucknoW. Mrs.
Ira Dickie, pregident, opened the
meeting with a thought for the New
Year , and a verse "a little more
kindness".
'Following the hymn "Standing
at the • portal"., Mrs. Dickie
welcomed the members and visit-..
ors. Mrs. Glenn Noble gave the
meditation on I Johii 4 stating that
we have a' new covenant in God's •
love, grace and mercy. A
committee was named to present a
pr"gram 'later in January • at
Pinecrest Manor. „
Mrs. Harold Campbell gave the
Ladies' Aid report.- The treasurer's
report was given by Mrs. Frank
MacKenzie. Seventeen members
answered the roll call. -
'Mrs. Gib Hamilton presented the
last chapter of the study book,,
"Unknown Country" in the form of
a play with several members taking
'part. A lively discussion 'followed
on the ideas and suggestions ip the
study.
Mrs. Bruce Hamilton read a.
poem "Recipe for Peace'''. Mrs.
Douglas 'Graham gave the Offertory
prayer. Several ladies participated
in the, prayer circle. Following the
hymn Lord speak to me, ' Mr,s.
Noble gave the closing prayer. A
pleasant hour of fellowship and
lunch was enjoyed..
